Question Can you mount FJ Cruiser side mirrors on Tacomas?

Hey guys, just wondering if anybody has or if it is even possible to mount the side FJ Cruiser mirrors with fog lights onto the 2 generation tacomas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You'd have to do some fab work, FJ side mirrors are mounted directly to the door.

1. Disassemble door
drink beer
2. test fit FJ mirror to the best of your abililty to see if the curvature lines up.
3. make a stencil of the bolts to mount FJ mirrors
4. use stencil to drill bolt holes.
5.test fit again.
drink beer
6. shim as necessary(to keep from bending the sheet metal of the door when bolts get tightened)
7. maybe use rubber gasket to conceal the curvature difference(if any)
8. run wires to lights on Mirrors( if you want)
drink beer
9. make a stencil for the old mounting area of the tacoma mirrors.
10. cut out of sheet metal remember to leave metal to bend down on the edge to make it look finished.
11. bend edges
12. make a stencil for tacoma mounting holes.
13. get bolts, tack bolts to sheet metal using stencil for placement.
14. test fit
drink beer, remember your happy place
15. adjust if necessary.
16.test fit again
17. fill, scuff, prime, paint, clear coat
18 reassemble door with new parts.
19. sit back and admire your one off mirrors.

If you are good with body work you can probably pull it off. I have no clue about the electrical part of the deal.

Bump

I was thinking of this myself today looking at an FJ
The FJ mirrors look a little more Truck-like to me. anyone else think they are hideous? Anyone done this yet? Anyone good enough with photoshop to give it a try?

My brother had a '68 Ford Ranger pickup with "west coast" mirrors on it that I always liked. I wouldn't put them on a Tacoma but something a little more truck like would be good.

Someone did do this, but the problem was the gap where the old mirrors were..looked funky. wish it would work though
