Alright guys I wanna know what you think about this idea of mine, and if it'll work or not:

I think it would be really cool if there was an aftermarket tailgate that could A.) be used as a normal tailgate B.) swing open like a tiregate, and C.) was removable and could be used as a dirtbike ramp.

Think it could work? Maybe not a combo of all three, but something similar if it wasn't possible?

yeah kinda, but it's not removable/usable as a ramp. I would like to see this be a bit more.... industrial i guess? more raw/utilitarian looking

at one of the sema events Lund industries had some running boards that could be removed and used as dirtbike ramps, but they never put them into production. You have a pretty sick idea there. draw it up and patent it. lol

Sounds like it could work. You could make it look pretty cool too i think. It would be heavier than hell though.

you could make a rectangular tailgate, insert a folding dirtbike ramp on one side and use the ramp as the supports of the tailgaite possibly?

hmmmm that could work. i was thinking more along the lines of one single piece, but that might not be long enough for a ramp. idk, i guess i've got some measuring to do :D

I have the skill. could make them out of aluminum. something like those fith wheel tailgates most bigger trucks use to hook up those travel trailers. its a good idea. Oh and I'm a welder and have metal fabricating skills, thats why i say i could do it. but don't have time now. Too busy building a bobber but i love the idea

The station wagon my family had as a kid (1988 Pontiac Safari) could swing out like a door from drivers side, or open down like a tailgate. Also, the glass window could go down. I don't recall if it could be removed, but I'm sure one way or another, it could be done.

    So yes, it is possible.

We had one of those station wagons too...

This fabbed tailgate idea is really good. Whoever designs one like this could make some major money. I can nearly envision it- too bad I'm not in any way capable of making it!
