Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.
MJP2 runs the same spindle gussets as me, and he races his truck in the desert. Think of that abuse. ;)

    I'd say they're pretty reliable. :p

Just get them. Its pretty much like cheap insurance. I dont jump mine but there is those times when hard trialing needs to be done....or when barriers need to be crossed in parking lots lol.

Honestly its one of the best things you can do for assurance and peace of mind. Whats $50 vs. Repairs.

Im not saying that you will be indestructable...just close to it hahaha

The things that have happened to me at pismo:

    1) Got my moms explorer impounded (driving w/o license)
    2) Got my step dads jeep impounded (driving w/o current reg..it had dealer plates the ranger was just being a dick. We got it out of impound no charge the next day.)
    3) Slid my moms explorer sideways down a dune into the fence
    4) Rolled a tire off the rim on my old dodge
    5) Rolled a tire off the rim on my tacoma
    6) Lit myself on fire (was wearing riding gear, no damage done)
    7) Got pulled over for not having the strap tied on my helmet while riding (got a warning)
    8) Wind blew all the sand from underneath the tongue of the toy hauler and the trailer fell forward (no damage done)
    9) Gotten stuck many times
    10) Who knows what else i'm forgetting.

Most of this happened when I was younger and first started going to pismo with not much experience. After all that being sad, do I continue to go? HELL YES!

There's a crossing that you have to drive through to get to the camping side of pismo. Most of the time it's a tiny stream. I am usually able to just idle through it w/o splashing. I haven't seen a good amount of water in that crossing for a long time.

Oh, and as for the jumping...

A big fat YES to this.

Allow me to reiterate: Yes. :)

They're damn strong, but there's always a weak link. If the spindle holds, the UCA mounting bolt with bend. If that's reinforced, the LCA mounting tabs with bend and possible break. If those are reinforced, you're back to bending your reinforced spindle.

It's a cycle, so it's a good idea to pick where your weak link will be. Mine is the spindle.

Yea mostly its a little stream and occasionally gets really deep, mostly at high tide. But Ive seen trucks go through it almost window deep.

That cliff is usually not there but that is what the "Pismo River" does at high tide sometimes.

I haven't seen that much water in years. There has only been 1 time when I had to wait for high tide to go down to cross, and I think that was memorial day of 2004..
