trust arco?

crap gas hit the 4$ mark in my area and i cant afford premium from the big names. was wondering if arco premium 91 is just as good. any input?

 

Why are you using Premium?

 

I only use 87 octane..... i've used 91 and i cant really see the difference

I personally always use Sam's Club Premium. We get 93 in FL and I paid 3.68 today. My truck seems to be abnormal because I get about 2 mpg's better and it doesnt ping at low speeds on premium.

I have used ARCO in all of my vehicles for years. Their gas has never once given me a problem, nor has it done any damage. I don't believe for one second that the big brands have any better quality aside from the additives , Techron etc... that they advertise to be in their formulation process.
I raise suspicion when I see sub-contracted generic tankers delivering gas to a Shell, Mobil, or Chevron. Are they getting the gas from the same place? Is the Techron really in there like they say? Maybe, maybe not.
Me, I just add some Berrymans to the tank a couple times a year to maintain the arteries & it's good to go.

On the other end of the spectrum there is the most important thing to consider that is happening before our very eyes.
If you're not OCD about buying the big brand gas for your ride consider this.

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell........................... 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco ............................62,231,000 barrels

Citgo gas is from South America , from a Dictator who hates Americans. If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (oil is now $100+ a barrel)

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
ARC0....................0 barrels
B P/Phillips...........0 barrels

Sunoco................0 barrels
Conoco................0 barrels
Sinclair.................0 barrels
Hess......................0 barrels

 

Good post! Where does Costco get gas? I thought Conoco/phillips also import from Venezuela (sp), home of the new "latin america communism movement" spearheaded by Chavez.

 

Costco gets gas from which ever supplier has the least expensive gas and an abundance of supply.

thanks for the info. about time some one brings the facts to me. in my area i hate how people justify their assumptions without proof or any kind of evidence. i was talking to this one guy from UTI about gas brands and mentioned arco gasoline. wow what a fun debate we had.

sadly i feel that everyone is right. arco acutally put ethanol in their gas for reduced prices. a quick study search in ethanol blended gases shows a 3-5% drop in mileage since ehtanol burns faster.

 

Actually, I think most companies get their gas from the same refineries. They mix in their additives in the truck which is what differentiates them.
