My only complaint about my baja rack is being overbuilt for the application. Don't get me wrong, I love that the rack is solid but it was designed to mount onto the Tacoma OEM roof rack with a limit of 100 pounds. The tacoma version of the baja rack should be a bit less robust so you can carry more cargo. The basket weighs 38 pounds so it doesn't leave much capacity for cargo.

I always wished they designed their basket to bolt straight onto the roof. I'm not sure when this happened but they DID design a 2nd generation that bolts directly onto the roof!! :D http://www.bajarack.com/toyota-tacoma

I need this new one. Anyone local want to buy my first generation baja rack? I need to post pictures but I have serious concerns about the arms on my OEM roof rack. They are not solid enough and I came back to this thread because I want to swap out my OEM roof rack with something else. Now I want to swap out the whole setup with the new bajarack bolt-on. thinking of adding an oem to my 2012, but admittedly havent read this entire thread. Does the oem rack interfere with the xm radio shark fin? Cant imagine toyo would design it such that it would, but...just askin

I'm runnng a custom one right now. built for strength. @ 185 lbs, i can jump as high as i can on it without issues.

this one is for a member up north who has my old Thule. it bolts directly to the crossbars on the thule like the old style baja racks to the OEM.

and here's the one i'm currently working on for an fellow florida member. this one is all out with a tight floor grid and front cage to protect the 20'' rigid industries light going on it. I am also cutting fairings for the front out of 1/4'' clear acrylic fors lightly better aerodynamics and some extra protection for the light.

Nice work man! From the looks of your new one you made it to mount into the stock holes in the roof, correct?

Thinking about getting a OEM rack for my skis (SB), will it support a 20' extension ladder?

    Thanks.

Going to steal Colins thunder here and post updates to the rack hes working on right now. The little legs in front will be removed before it's finished, so ignore them.

looks good! you should put some 4” rigid LED bars on. 1 on each side and 2 on back. no matter where someone is around you they will get out of your way. lol.

He's already putting a 20'' RI up front, so he probably won't even need the rears.....the beam will just bounce off the ozone layer untill is goes full circle and catches up behind him

Zach, shoot me a PM and we can discuss some rack options and pricing for you.

I think what happened (or so Colin claims, lol) was a slight over estimate for the steel order, so instead of a 10x10 floor, it ended up being something like 6x7 squares. I'm 100% fine with it, it looks so angry; plus now I won't be so worried about firewood slipping through and damaging the roof. I guess the acrylic fairing is pretty intense as well, haven't seen it yet but Colin said it looks damn near bulletproof.
