mine looks like ASS, and i have a cap on it!! i just beat it up with use. it's like a badge of honor at this point. i had dog vomit and other dead animal "juices" in it recently (+ rotting oyster water, probably made the dog vomit). so i climbed in, with a soft bristle brush, some soapy water and brushed it clean. helps to park on a steep driveway to assist in rapid draining..

i wouldnt worry about bed fade too much. they cant see it, while you're circling in the mall parking lot anyways. ;)..just joking!

I thought about using a black vinyl dye on the bed of my "new" truck (06 bought used). Still doing some research on the bed composite though to see if it will actually work. On other plastics it works better than paint or shine in that it actually dye's the surface instead of just putting a coating on it that can scratch or rub off like paint.

    The bed rug is expensive!

Anyone know what the 3/8" bed mat feels like on the knees?

Just a note here. The plastic bed is not a bed liner. The whole bed is made out of plastic (Just another one of my disappointments with the newer Toyota Tacomas).

Back to Black should work as well as anything. Once you get the "Black" back, you can try Murphys Oil Soap to maintain the look. It is available in the house cleaning section of supermarkets, Wal-Mart, etc. It is made from natural vegetable oil and won't dry out plastics/vinyl/leather. It does not leave a slippery surface either. That is all I use on the vinyl/leather/rubber of my cars and motorcycles. It keeps things clean and original looking.

    Hope this helps.

    Norm.

If you don't use it as a truck then get a cap or similar and be done with it. I use my truck so the last thing I plan on doing is wasting any extra product on the bed.

I do use it once in a while. but I don't/haven't put anything that will damage/scuff it up really. At most, all I have put in the bed was some of my stuff from when I moved (rims, bed set, misc. things). Ever since then I don't really put anything large in there, haven't needed to. I still use it though, just moving misc things around.

If you rarely use the bed I would just Plasti Dip it. Get a matte black finish and no worries about fading.
