rear locker light stays on

Albiet dim it's still on. I can engage the rear locker and the light on the dash appears bright red. Locker works, I can disengage the locker but the light is still there just much more dim.

Any suggestions? Hope it's nothing serious and just an electrical issue of sorts.

06, trd off road package with a locking diff.

 

That's kinda strange... First place I'd probably start looking is the wiring around the e-locker itself as it's the most likely candidate to get damaged.

 

I would not worry about it.

As you suggested if the rear locker actuator is functioning smoothly, that's what matters most.

I would recommend testing it out like once a month (the actuator).

EDIT: Are you 4x4? Auto or MT?

 

Yeah 4X4, and auto MT. As mentioned just odd. Enough to cause concern. It came on once, the icon was "half lit" as though some odd electrical issue but it was really cold outside. My TPS sensor seems to act up too when really cold. It went away and didn't think about it again.

Then it came back, and won't go off now. As mentioned the light is dim compared to when I engage it when it lights up bright red and works fine. Turn it off and it disengages but the light still appears. Something is not right, it's out of warranty, and would like to fix myself and make sure there isn't a more serious issue going on.

 

What's auto MT ? is that like a robot driver in a stick shift ?

I believe light is hardwired to the the TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH When you look on your e-locker there should be two wire paths. One goes to e-locker thats like 6 wires and second smaller plug with two wires to the top of e-locker. Thats the one going to the switch. The way switch operates it has small ball riding the pin and the spring. When locker engages it pushes ball and the pin thus making your locked light on. Your most likely culprit is that switch. They do go bad from time to time, and if the spring inside switch is broken it could give you that partial light. Although most of the time pieces just fall a part and locker never engages.
Switch is easy to remove it so clean area around it, disconnect the plug and unbolt the switch. Test to make sure small ball on the end moves in and out freely.

As per my post I made to you yesterday on TN, its the No 1 Transfer switch. I have had this problem twice and the switch fixed it both times. The exploded diagram provided by BlueT was the one I posted a link for yesterday but was removed by the TN mods...
