old man emu..

I'm looking at buying the old man emu suspension kit...I'm going to do the 886 coils in front with the top plate spacers, and then the aal in the rear w/o tsb. My question is, my truck is higher in the rear by about 2 inches. I want it to be even or a little higher in the front, will doing the aal and new shocks make it still raked?

don't think you need the top plate with the 886 coils...

886's will lift you 2.5 - 3 " up front , depending on what AAL you get you will add 1.5 to 2" in the rear ,

you do the math ,

In the rear shocks don't provide any lift. With that much lift up front you will probably have to get new upper control arms to get alignment into spec. To my understanding the 886 coils are for somebody with a heavy off road bumper and a winch. You may want to consider the 884's or even the 885's if you don't want too stiff of a ride.

Toytec says for DC you need the 885's...just read and it tells you everything. Your still gonna be a little lower in the rear, so you may wanna think about doing the HarshRide TSB so you can get a free set of leafs from toyota before doing the lift w/AAL that way it will level all said n done.

Makes good sense. 885's and OME 90000s shocks in the front with a TSB rear pretty well levelled me out. Also, the 885's provide a pretty "truck-like" ride, so I'm willing to bet 886's would bounce you around pretty harshly.

I would also think 886s in front, top plate spacers notwithstanding, would be hell on your CVs without a heavy bumper and/or winch.

Alright, I'm convinced..ill go with the 885's instead. The reason I was going with 886 coils is cause I wanted to be sure to the get the full amount of lift, but what you guys are saying makes sense as well. I tried to get the tsb done shortly after I bought the truck but I was at 38k miles and you have to be 36k and below to have it done for free. But thank you for the input, I appreciate it.

885s and 886's are the same length coil with different weight capacity,
I just installed 884's on my access cab,( same weight cap. as the 885s but shorter) and got more lift than I expected, and a very very nice ride and without any add a leafs the front may be slightly higher or even with the rear. i didnt use any top plates to compensate for the taco lean, or added height. i will be adding a leaf and replacing the stock TRd shocks with Billies 5100s this week to give the rear a little height for a slight rake.
If you dont get the height you want from 885s you can add the top plate spacer to give you a little more, but doing that, you might have to get new adjustable Upper Control Arms.

another vote for 885's and aal. even without top plate in front you'll prob want new uca's...885's designed to give 2" with heavy bumper or such, and goes at least 2.5" without (that's uca territory). ome aims to give the highest quality/least intense lift possible...they themselves don't advertise their products for taco's as greater than 2" lift because that's where more work/parts are required for it to be done correctly, and that's not what they want to market. i have 884's (1.75-2.0" lift by themselves) and spacer...don't want spacer but i have the wrong aal so my rear is mucho high...looked funny without the spacer.

also, remember every truck is different. one lift company (ready lift, i think) measured a ton of taco's and found up to an inch difference (front to back ride height) between identical stock trucks so you may need to mess with some stuff to get exactly what you want. you'll like 885's and ome, little more firm than stock w/bilstein but not too bad.

strong bump of 4 year old thread!

1 - I dropped the carrier bearing to fix vibrations
2 - stone guards are non essential imo and I didn't get those
3 - they come ready for installation usually
4 - depends on your definition of easy. you still need lots of tools and brute strength to get everything into position.

I would not install this if you have limited experience and/or no one mechanically inclined w/ their own shop to help.

haha, i deleted my post because posting on this old of a thread felt like i was like disturbing the dead. Thanks for your help! I thinking that I would be biting off more than i can chew if i were to try to install myself, i'm just gonna wait and save more for the install.
