Buying a 2nd generation Taco

Hey guys, i posted here about a week ago and didn't get a lot of responses. I'm new to the site. In the next month I'm buying a Tacoma. My question is i found a used 2005 sport 6 speed with 85000 miles on it for $13,500.

Questions:
he says the Air Condition doesnt hold a charge...How much to repair?

Is it wise to lift it and put 35's on it with it having 85,000 miles on it, or would it be better to buy new and put the lift on as soon as i get it?

 

Couldn't tell you, could be lots of things, could need new orings at 4 dollars or a new compressor at a couple hundred.

Do whatever you like, with 85k you don't have to worry with warranty issues. That being said i lifted mine with only 2k miles on it.


Since your new, don't forget to search, odds are if you are thinking about a question....its already been asked twice.

Tell the guy your interested but you want to take it to a mechanic to have a look before you make your final decision (which is ALWAYS a good idea). Then ask the mechanic to tell you if it's a good quality truck and ask him to give you an estimate on repairing the AC. Then you can use the estimate for repairing the AC, and anything else that the mechanic might come up with, to negotiate a lower price. The mechanic will probably charge you a fee for the inspection but it's definitely worth it!!

I would be careful with this truck, this guy not fixing the AC on that new of a truck seems a little weird, makes me wonder how much routine maintenance he did and what else he let go. Now on the other hand if he was straight up with you about the air, could be legit! Like others have said, it would be a good idea to get the truck checked out! Good luck
