I have not. I'm not worried about it, as composite beds are not a new idea. GM had it in their Silverado and Sierra trucks until the bean counters forced them back to metal.

you see, i bought the d-rings from toyota. They say to mount them in the lower side of the bed towards the front of the bed. I did this. Just seems kind of thin there and makes me wonder if i will get a stress crack or something.

Pull the bed bolts, grind the flanges so that you can get the washers off them, drill out the D ring bracket holes to accommodate the bed bolts, reassemble with the D ring bracket on top of the washer, retorque the bed bolt.

I doubt you will have to worry about the bed's strength given that course of action.

ETA: It seems foolish to use the toyota kit as intended. Why trust a thin section of composite when you can put the stress on those T55 bolts and frame mounts? YMMV

Nope. :) Mine hasn't shown any sign of cracking either. That material seems to be pretty tough. I'm more concerned with how much it will fade over the years from the sunlight and other elements.

No problems with mine, and I've been hauling more stuff in it than I ever dreamed of-or wanted too.

My salesman told me you can take a cinder block and throw it as hard as you can on the bed in sub zero temps and it will not hurt it at all.

Sorry but salesmen are full of :crapstorm: I know the bed is strong but I won't do that.

The only thing that's happened to mine is I cracked the surface a bit... not all the way through. I had a heavy ass 700r4 transmission in the back and I burned tires through a left turn (forgot I still had it back there lol). Slammed against it pretty hard... honestly I'm surprised it didn't do more I doubt any of my old metal's would have held up as well.

I have some scratches from a bed frame sliding around, but that's about it.

I was working at a toyota stealership when the 2ng generations came out. We let people take a sledgehammer to the bed of our parts delivery truck. You may mark it, but it doesn't break.

I had to remove mine to put the flatbed on. There was some damage to it such as cracks and breaks. I did have on heck of a time cutting it up. I used a sawzall to cut it in pieces because I could not break it up at all. It is tough, more than I expected.

I've beat the snot out of mine. Hauled tons and tons of rock, mulch, top soil, abused it with shovels and rakes and its showing signs of scratching but it's holding up well. I just wish that Toyota would have used countersunk screws near the tail gate so that my shovel wouldn't keep hitting the damn button head screws. My screws are white from my shovel hitting them so many times.

Funny thing... I'm more concerned with my crummy leaf springs than I am with my composite bed.

It scratches kind of easy, but so does paint on a metal bed. I put a rubber mat in the back to protect it and keep things from sliding around. I'm also curious about fading over the years. I guess we'll see.
