I don't know if someone has already asked this, I have looked around and not found anything. The hood scoop on the TRD Sport Tacoma, has anyone tried to make it functional or pull out the insert to allow air into engine compartment? I don't know if this would be a good idea overall or not...maybe if I could get some feedback from some of the more technical/mechanically inclined users I could make a better decision.

you must not have looked hard

this question comes up pretty regularly and at one point there was a very detailed debate concerning this but it was determined that the hood scoop lies in a low pressure area of the hood therefore you need to either raise the scoop up like 6 inches or move it to the base of the windshield

i drilled a hole in mine and hooked a boost gauge to it. at 90mph it did not register. Mine was a first gen but the idea is the same.
