I think I'm going with the Sport.

Fully loaded with the JBL setup for both the bluetooth phone support and possible better music quality (?). There's something offered as an iPod integration option. Does anyone have any experience with that?

What! No nose scoop to impress the ladies? And I've got to have those sport seats for the extra comfort.

It is just an Aux outlet I think. You can buy a cord from radio shack for $5 that will plug from your iPod into your truck.

Yep! I think I agree. That's what I did with the Prius. Went with DICE Electronics. Plugs into the bottom connector on the iPod and iPhone. Plugs into the AUX connector on the back of the head unit. Then I bought a ProClip to mount on my dash. Works and looks great! I'll just stir and repeat for the Taco.

great thread...i'm in the same situation....looking at DC/Short box/4x4/TRD's....just cant decide between the "sport" and the "off road"....leaning towards getting the sport & upgrading the tires to some 265/70/17 A/T's(and living without the "locker")

From wht I've read it looks like the sport would be your best option.
Everything color matched, and the scoop. JBL is a decent system if you wanna keep the factory look.

    Go for it!

Must be those longer Winters, ay?

I kept mulling it over, and I'm still trying to figure out what the difference is between the Sport and the Off-Road package. Some things I don't really care about too much, like the 17" wheels. I like the scoop and the locker and the VSC+ATRAC. I didn't see the VSC+ATRAC on the Sport. I think I was just assuming it was there because the VSC+TRAC is standard, right?

VSC+TRAC wasn't listed in the Sport pkg, so I'm assuming that it's standard. What do you get with the A in ATRAC? Is this an off-road mode for TRAC?

It seems like the combination of Locker and VSC+ATRAC tips the scales in favor of brawn over beauty for me. Not that the Off-Road isn't an awesome looking truck. It just doesn't have the fake scoop which I like.

I just asked for a quote on an Off-Road w JBL Package (OF) truck. It also includes (RL) Running Lights, (TO) V6 Tow Package, (WT) Window Tint, (P4) Vehicle Shield Package and (O3) Owner Rewards Package which is the Running Boards, Door Sill Protectors, Roof Rack and Premium Carpet Mat Set. Oddly, it was the only one out of two dealers (both with large inventories) with the (OF) JBL feature Package.

Am I missing anything? I don't really care for the Running Boards or the Carpet Mats. I'd rather have the Tube Steps, and I'm going to buy Weather Tech Floor Liners anyway.

How much longer does it take to order one EXACTLY LIKE YOU WANT? I'll ask the salesman when he gets my quote for this one, but does anyone have experience with that? This is a Gulf States supplied area here.

Yep! I was trying to get a good idea of all the differences, appearance and functional, between the Sport and Off-Road before going in and being dazzled by all the different choices and sales BS.

I really want to know what I'm giving up in the Sport Package if I opt for the equally equipped Off-Road. It doesn't seem to be cut and dried. Chrome around the grill for the Off-Road and a chrome rear bumper. Black door handles? What's up with that?

Guess I'll have to go kick some tires and take notes.

The dealer that allegedly had the (FO) in stock, didn't. He emailed me back with a quote on a (OC) with (DZ) which is, I believe, not the JBL Head Unit.

    Darn it!

Without you telling me why you think it sucks, I'm left with nothing to go on.

What are you comparing it to? My only choice is JBL or factory Toyota. I'm not inclined to purchase aftermarket head units.

Study the extra value packages offered to determine what you want. Anything that is on a truck that isn't in the value package is dealer installed.

You have to think of it like this- You have the SR5, TRD Off Road and the TRD Sport extra value packages. break it down into what trim level you want and then pick the package that suits you.

LB not option as TRD OR, SR5 seats suck... Hence why I only had one option, and I love the look of the scoop and I dont give a damn that its useless.
