After years of having the bigger truck and having to drive everywhere, I got an access cab. My buddies don't like to ride in the back so now I get to ride for a change. Sweet!!!

+1 for the ac. (Disclaimer: single guy & dog so extra seats not necessary)

If you plan on passengers, get the quad cab. If you plan on any off-roading, get 4x4. Bed size is up to you

The only thing I miss is the locker on my 07 DBL CAB SB sport... But in reality I only used it about half a dozen times in the 11 years I had my Gen 1 TRD Off Road Taco, so I won't miss it that much...;)
Also I really enjoy driving a manual trans, so the Long Bed was not an option because It is only available in Auto...

DC LB TRD Sport here. Got it because I wanted to put things in the back bed and I have kids. It's great! Had it for 3 years now and have used it for everything from hauling my motorcycle in the bed to engines, full sets of wheels and tires, lumber, yard material, tons of luggage...you name it. The double cab is big enough that if you go out with your friends and they aren't a bunch of fatties it's a comfortable ride. Couldn't imagine life without it.

if you are going to be encountering up to 12" of snow i would want a 4x4.

this is around 15" of snow...i got a dc lb sport 4x4 and had no problems. also have some goodyear duratrac tires that helped but you get the point.

edit: sorry for the crappy cell phone pic also

I Bought the DCLB Sport because
    1. 5 foot bed is useless to me for the bikes
    2. I needed a double cabs + the chicks dig it
    3. I wanted a sport for the LSD
    4. The DCSBs look disproportional IMO
    5. My truck looks pretty good

Double Cab Long Bed for me. I have a kid and I do a lot of scuba diving so I haul a lot of gear around. I also have some rental property and I find myself hauling building materials around a lot and the short be just seemed to short. I had a Ranger with the extended cab and it was useless for anything but a bag of clothes and other small stuff. I like the DC when I go up diving since I can keep all my dry gear in the cab. I can also keep my golf clubs in the cab when I'm at work and plan to sneak out early for 18.

mini antenna... I'm getting to it! Sheesh!
My Last Tacoma (2001) was an access cab and I really felt cramped in there... plus I had no room to take more than one passenger. I also used the truck for taking the GSX-R to the race track and hauling lumber etc... so the long bed was essential.

I was worried about getting a DC/LB when I saw it because it was sooooooo loooooooong. But you know what? The darn thing has a better turning radius than my 2001 and with the back up camera its a cinch to park. I love it!!!!!!

    Measure twice and cut once.

Don't forget hitch and lightbars/bullbars either. My DC LB has about 18 inches of clearance with a bullbar on it. I back into the garage with the camera and easily park with about 2 inches between the bumper and wall. It leaves me with about 16 inches to cross between the truck and the door. With a hitch, I'll have to open the garage door or climb through my truck to get to the other side!

I liked the Access Cab for the opposite reason some of you guys bought the DC. I have always had nice 4 door vehicles prior to the Tacoma.......what did that mean? I always had to drive when a road trip came up because my friends cars were always to cramped to ride in. I like the Access since I can easily access stuff in the back seat and I think the area is more than adequate for what I need.

Now with the Access cab I never get stuck driving as the rear seat is not comfortable for long drive. We drove to Vegas in my truck the 2nd weekend I had it because my friends thought it would be alright still.....needless to say they did not want to ride in the back again :)
