Access Cab - rear seat storage

I case you were wondering, yes, a shotgun or a short rifle (SKS) will fit in the rear storage compartments.

Is there any room on the back wall? If so, how do you remove the carpet and pads?

Cool, been thinking of throwing my Remmy 870 back there to try it out, guess I don't have to now. I've got a Pelican case for it, but when I shoot clays that case is a pain to lug around, much rather just throw the gun under the seats...

I highly doubt it would be legal here, i hope it is. But it seems that everything that I want to be legal that is gun related in California, sadly is not legal.

As legal as it is in any state, as long as it's not loaded.

Federal gun free school zone law requires any gun to be in a locked container unless in the possession of someone with a valid CCW from the state that they are in.

California's ban on open carry of long guns does not require them to be transported in a locked container.

California's school zone law does not address long guns.

Pitch the trigger lock.
It satisfied it's legal purpose when you carried it from the counter through the door of the gun store.

The law states that you can be held criminally liable if a minor gains access to your gun and uses it to injure/kill someone or damage property.
The trigger lock is an affirmative defense against those charges.

Shells in the saddle is not considered "loaded" under case law, People vs Clark 1996.

Also, a case was just tossed last month where a man was arrested by LASO for transporting a loaded firearm because the magazine was loaded, but it was not in the gun.

It doesn't matter if it is "non reachable" or not.
There's a lot of bullshit that gun shops and old timers will toss out there.
They'll tell you that the gun must be in the trunk and the ammo must be locked in the glove box (there are NO laws governing the carrying or transportation or storage of ammo other than school property restrictions).
I've even been told that a gun must be field stripped before transport.
It's all bullshit unless they can provide the law to back up their statement.
That which is not stated specifically as being illegal is, legal.

The law states:
It is illegal to conceal a handgun without a permit other than in a secure, locked container.... and now that it is illegal to carry openly in California, that is the only legal way to transport a handgun.
It is illegal to transport a loaded firearm in an area where shooting is prohibited.

Federal law states that it is illegal to possess a firearm within 1000ft of a K-12 school unless it is in a locked container.
I've never heard of anyone getting popped on Federal charges for this.

Under California law, the only time a long gun must be in a locked container is if it is a Registered Assault Weapon (purchased and registered prior to the 1990 or 2000 bans).
