how many miles do you have on your truck? I believe (and someone please correct me if I am wrong) that usually means the catalytic converter is going south.

i think u r smelling the cat converter going bad...it recycles the exhaust. I dont believe it has anythnig to do with the O2 sensor... I also have a 93 jeep wrangler and the same thing (cat conv) happen with it...it was much more noticeable because it was topless at the time...smelled like the land fill LOL

had a customer come into the shop today for the same thing. I put some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank and told them to use a better gas station....as others have said and higher then usual sulfer content in the gas. Try a better gas station.

    this.

Cat went out on my 03 Matrix like 3 months after purchase...was a known issue for Toyota, TSB'd, taken care of for free by the dealer.

if toyota covers the cost then go now and get in the service line before they change their mind...sounds awfully early for the cat to go but anything is possible...next thing you know they will tell us something is wrong with our floor mats...LOL

I believe all emission related parts are guarenteed for something like 5 years on new vehicles. It is for motorcycles anyways. If it's the cat that needs replacing, it's probably covered under warranty.

Same thing happened to me with an '04 4Runner maybe 2 months old. Turned out to be the cat. Toyota replaced it, and no more smelling like ass.

Other than that, the Trix hasn't had a single issue in 170k miles.
