Racks

I've got a 2008 DC, with an Access Tonneau cover, I'm looking for options on how to transport one or two kayaks.
Pictures would be helpful

What kind of kayaks and what bed length?

 

Short bed, and have not bought the kayaks yet. Wanna make sure I can transport kayaks or canoes before I buy them

 

You might have to remove (or at least roll up) the tonneau but the Yakima Outdoorsman are great kayak/canoe racks.





You have to drill into your track system if you want to use them though (someone else gave me that tip and it worked great) They're designed to fit on trucks with sturdy bed rails

 

what kind of tenneau? aftermarket roof racks are very strong. i've tossed my kayak up on mine a time or two...i don't even have a speciffic kayak holder, i just strapped it down on top of my surf board pads. no pictures though, sorry

Just get a TRAC-RAC TACOMA it is the Cleanest mounting and no drilling required, The mounts slide right into your bed cleat channels, Plus they are way stronger than any flimsy deal out there, I had them on my Tacoma and they worked great!

 

Anything under 8' just roll up the cover a bit and shove them in with a strap to hold them it. Otherwise I would go with a roof or bed rack. Don't get suckered into any rack accessory besides a stacker (I prefer Yakima stackers) unless you have a composite boat.

 

Here is my truck with two 12' kayaks in the back of it. I have a shortbed. I've had up to 4 12' kayaks in the back of mine. I've travel hundreds of miles with my 12 footers. They are held by ratchet straps. One across the front, one/two on the back and sometimes one across the middle. Works wonders.
