picked up a TRD CAI for a killer deal but felt like it was missing something and didnt feel like paying $100 or whatever the XR-U guy charges.

so i went on my lunch and picked up a piece of 10.25x8.25 tinted plexiglas from a local plastic shop, took half an hour and came up w/ this!!

thank you all for the comments, i really like how it turned out as well!

just used a dremel sanding attachment and a steady hand. the one that has the rubber in the middle and the cylindrical sanding pad.

looks awesome man! I agree that guy charges WAY too much for his covers, I would have bought one if they were a reasonable 20-30 dollars.

Agreed. Looks awsome but doesn't the material absord heat more than aluminum and the intake sucks in warm air?

i used 3/16 foam sealer around the edges, so no air gets into the engine.

havent looked into the heat transfer coff of the different matls, but really doesnt matter as the air can only warm up from radiated heat adn the air is moving too fast to absorb any of that...so i think im good!
