Wd40

Does WD40 help stop rusting...if i spray it on my leaf springs that have a little rust...

 

It can be used as preventative, but you would have to apply it a lot. I use it on my Jet Ski. I have to apply it after every trip. It would be better to clean the current rust and get a real rust inhibitor. Some others on here have mentioned various products, so hopefully one will chime in soon.

 

I fugure it's better than nothing to spray them down once a week in the winter..after a car wash or something..

 

It repls water and like William said it prevents rust. I love this stuff very useful. People also spray underneth thier fenders before offroading for easier clean up (mud) afterwards.

 

it also attracts a ton of dust, but it does do a good job of stopping rust from forming.

 

Your better off painting them. A can of black spray paint is cheap. And for under the fenders I would use spray silicone, any shit will come right off.

 

x2 wd40 attracts dirt like crazy, after awhile the squeak problem will probably be worse, all the extra dirt probably causes more wear than not using it at all. might be good as a rust preventative, if thorough cleaning is done beforehand and applied regularly.

wd40 and silicone spray are good temporary solutions.... spread the springs just a bit apart with a flathead screwdriver and just get a little teflon-based grease in there. mine have been squeak free, and no new rust is forming

Water Displacement formula 40. I think it's a mix of petroleum and fish oil.
