Another Lift question Thread!

Hello, new member here, just purchased a 2010 Tacoma TRD 4x4 TRD Sport! I have been endlessly reading threads on lifting over the past few weeks. I have a few questions that I could not seem to find a direct answer to. I would like to get a moderate lift and new tires and rims. I know this subject has been beaten to death, but I would appreciate any input

1. Rear TSB vs. just getting an ALL. I am not concerned about the $$ as an ALL is not a lot of money, just want to make it easy. Is there any advantage to getting the TSB or should I just get an ALL and be done with it?

2. Rear TRD Bilsteins vs. 5100? Is it worth switching? I have heard conflicting information (that the 5100 are better and that the TRD Bilsteins are pretty much the same so need to switch on a new Tacoma)

3. On the front lift I have read mixed reviews on spacers vs. 5100s. Seems again that with a new truck and the TRD Bilsteins, why would a spacer be a bad idea? You would keep the stock ride quality as you are not compressing the spring. With the 5100s you compress the spring and make the effective spring rate stiffer, and you are back to the question of are the 5100 that much better then stock TRD Billys?

4. Lastly, I do not want any rubbing issues with my tires and do not want to cut out plastic. Sounds like with 285/70 17s I would have to do some cutting, what is the largest I can go without cutting? Plus I do not want a very heavy tire, just a reg load rating no greater then C. Going to go on a 17x9 rim (Pro Comp 7089 is the top runner right now). I drive 95% pavement and do not want to sacrifice handling, MPG or braking. Considering Revo 2s.

I say get the tsb, its a free lift. Who doesnt want to save money

Also, i have 5100s all around and love them! Rear feels better and good thing about the fronts, your lift is easily adjustable and reversable! I had a spacer lift and trust me, you WILL feel a stiffer suspension.

Stick with 265/70s if you dont want trimming. Youll save mpg's along the way. Since you will be on pavement 17x9s will do. But remember the wider the wheel the more they stick out of the fender well. I live on a gravel road and i got tons of rock chips on my truck because of that.

Lastly, get revo 2s hands down. They score better than the bfg at ko in every category, are lighter, and long lasting!

Thanks for the reply, are you saying to move to 265/70 17's from the 265/65 17's to get a little extra height on the tire (but less width)?

you will get about an extra inch of height, but your width will stay the same. if you are wondering what the exact dimensions, check out the tire size calculator . by adding that extra inch, your fender wells will be filled up a little more and you wont have to worry about rubbing as much or at all as if you had 285's on them.

2. i only put the 5100's up front, got the trd bilsteins on the rear new. the back end is so light it doesnt really need a better shock.
3. both do the same thing, but the spacer is using a extra part. the 5100's are not.
i did the 5100's, only set at .85 to match the 1 inch of lift from TSB.
4. Believe 285's may have rubbing issues. i went with 265's and have no rubbing, vibrations. Look at Goodyear Duratracs before
buying any tires, they are outstanding. check out the lind below on what others have to say about them.

Getting the rear spring TSB done today, need 5100's now, but they all seem to be backordered. I think I have decided on 265/70's and the 17x9 black XD Enduros, will order this afternoon. Cant wait to get it all done!!
