the shakes when braking

Need some help. When i apply the brakes (running 60 to 80), the steering wheel shakes bad. could it be the rotors??

That's good to know...having same problem with my 01. Thought it might have been the abs system...just had an inspection done on my truck and no problems arose...guess ill check it myself

 

Turning them is a waste of money. They will warp shortly again. Replace with new rotors and if you had overheated brakes I would suggest looking for drilled rotors and ceramic pads.

 

Aww and we just missed out on the group buy on the slotted rotors!

Just replace the rotors. I just replaced my front two because my brakes started squeaking after I replaced just the pads. I had to come back two weeks later and do the rotors. I think it was $89 for both front rotors from advance auto parts. Pretty easy job...took about 20 minutes to replace.
obvious step number 0 : jack up the truck and use jack stands

1.Remove wheel:
2.Remove two caliper bracket bolts from hub (can't remember if they are 17mm or 19mm) (helps if you turn the steering wheel depending on what side, gives me room to use my impact gun)
3.take a 12mm bolt and thread it into the small holes to pop the rotor loose from the hub. (I had to do this with one, the other popped loose with a few taps of the mini sledge)
4.put new rotor on.
5.put caliper back on and tighten the caliper bracket bolts
6.put wheel back on
7. lower vehicle off jack
8. Have a beer...or six
9. go enjoy your new rotors free of vibration (suggest waiting a few hours if you opted for the six beers)

Also if you haven't done your brake pads..go ahead and replace those too. I think I paid $35 for new front pads.
