Handbrake Indicator Stuck

Hello all. 2005 SR5 Access Cab, 6 Spd Manual Trans.


The... handbrake indicator light won't go off when I take the handbrake off. Has anyone else had this problem?

It's not a big deal I guess, but fixing it would be nice.

Check your brake fluid level... if that's good:

First I'd look at the switch for the sensor... then look for a short... ect ect.

Your parking brake cable needs to be adjusted.

...It came back on.

Is my brake fluid leaking? I haven't had a chance to investigate yet. But yeah, it's stuck again. UGH!

 

That sucks, check the level again and see if it's low. If it is.. time to get the flashlight out and start looking for leaks in the lines :/

It seems I have a minor brake fluid leak.

Does anyone think it would be bad for my truck in any way if I just kept adding brake fluid to the master cylinder everytime it's level got to "MIN" until I work up the courage to go searching for the leak?


This would probably go on for a couple of weeks.

 

If you keep it full you should be fine- just be careful not to leave it low for too long- Can pull air into the lines and you'll get mushy braking feel or no braking power at all.
