AllPro Slider's annoyance

So I have a set of their sliders on my truck but when when i mounted them it seems that my cab either sat lower to the frame vs. another tacoma. I say this because if you look at some other photos of there sliders you can see the there sliders are angled up, mine are flat as can be. No matter which way we tried to get them to be angled up they hit the lower part of the cab. Anyone have an idea why this could be?

now here is another set, i know its hard to compare to my only pic but it just annoys me. And these are all i could find from a quick google search. Notice the angle on the out rail's, angled up.

 

I forgot, are these bolt on or weld on?

I see what you mean about the flatness, it's annoying me just looking at it. I don't think your cab could rely sit lower than anyone elses in relation to the frame, I think all pro may have messes up? Just a guess. ID givem a call

It looks like they welded the slider supports (not the ones going to your frame) too lowID givem a call

 

there weld ons. When i attached them to the frame i couldnt even weld the mounting plates flat because they kept hitting the cab

all pro's mistake. shit, how hard are they to get off now? thats fucked up.

im liking my avid bolt-ons more and more every day.

 

Ok, I might be totally off, but from your pic, it looks like the legs and the rails have a bit of an angle to them, but they actually angle down on your truck? Like maybe you tried to weld the passenger side upside down to the drivers side of the truck and vise-versa?

Oh trust me, there mounted on the right sides. Im not a total idiot! the sliders basically hit that seem thats under the doors, its about 1/8" thick metal part of the cab. Ill snap some pics when it gets light tomorrow and show how i had to weld them on ans where they hit.

 

Alright, just thought that maybe there was a slim chance of that issue. The part you're talking about hitting is the cab's pinch weld. Some guys have trimmed, ground down, or bent part of it so their sliders could be tucked up higher, though with conventional mounting, the sliders are still higher or even with the frame rails so I find it unnecessary to do so. If you're really unhappy with the AP sliders, hit me up and I can make you a set of sliders to whatever specs you want.

 

yea the pinch weld is the problem. Ive been throwing the idea around to alter where it hits by trimming it, so i guess ill just do that and maybe re-weld the sliders. Thanks guys!

 

Trim the bottom of the cab, that's what I did.

 

yea im going to go ahead and trim around where it hits. And just re-weld the sliders back on so the mounting plates are flat instead of the top being about 1/4" from the frame. I got these for some protection but they didnt have to be super strong when i welded them since i dont do hardcore wheelin with my truck.

 

Notching of the pinch weld is required to mount our rock guards so that they can be mouted as high as possible, thus giving the most ground clearance. Make sure you have at least 1/4" around each leg.

Thanks guys, And AllPro. I'll get to it this weekend. I've been dealing with this problem for awhile but have been letting it go because ive been super busy. But now its getting to much.

 

Installed mine last month. I did not modify the pinch welds but they mounting plates are now welded on about a 1/4 inch below the actual frame. (not flush). As this is a brand new truck I was not going to cut the cab.

The back mounting plate had to be cut down in order to clear the shock or cab mount. The piece that was cut out had to be put under the mounting plate in order to get it to sit flush with the frame. There was about a 1/4 inch gap between the frame and the mounting plate. This was after the other mounts had been welded on. (flush)

I forsee some rubing on the back fender as the slider is very close.

To allpro defense it does state that some modification had to be made to the back mounting plate on an access cab.

I would give the fit of these sliders about a 5/10 on a access cab.
