Ok heres the DL i have an 07 access cab 4.0 automatic. I went on a 300 mile trip a week ago and the truck seemed to jerk alot when shifting.
I went on another 300 mile trip and the truck was doing the same thing slamming hard when going into gear almost then at 60 i was at about 3500rpms then as soon as i let off it would drop to 500rpms. Give it a little bit of gas and it would throw u back in the seat like u stepped on it and shoot back up to 3500rpms. So I pulled over shut it off started it back up and the rpms were normal now but it was still jittery and not smooth and not the check engine light is on.
    Any ideas?

Rday, I have a 08 tacoma access cab 4.0 auto with the same problem. It is a problem with the computer that controls the tranny. Toyota has issued a TSB for the 09's and 10's were they reflash the computer and corrects the problem.
I check this site everyday looking to see if they have issued anything for the 08's but nothing yet....I know what you mean it's very annoying especially city driving...good luck

i've taken mine to 2 dealers and they both said it was normal, but i'm not given up yet. I am going to try another dealer with a case number from toyota. No, my check engine light is not on.

Are you over 60K mi? If not, transmission should be covered under the powertrain warranty.

im at 36500 i thought my warranty ran out after 36000?
Anyways my dad took the truck today cause he said he was gonna take it by the toyota dealer after he got done with work. he said the check engine light went off right after he left the driveway and it drove fine after that. It only seems to act up on me on long trips.
Also he said the toyota dealer may not do anything cause i have 285 70 17 tires on it and thats obviously not stock and that messes with the tranny a lil bit apparently??

my light went off like i said so they cant see the true code but they drove it and toyota thinks its eatheir the tranny or the selenoid whatever that is or does idk?
But I have to drive it and see if the light comes back on before they will know more. I hope they dont give me a hard time about warranty cause i have 33 inch tires on it.
