Yes, a few members here have them installed. They function as a mobile media center, can playback all video types, sound files, can connect to wireless hotspots, be a rolling hotspot, interface with your vehicles UBD port for instant vehicle diagnostics on the fly.

You can set one up for much cheaper than a good quality dbl din headunit and it is way morepowerful.

You can build your own box or buy premade ones.
I was looking at the Acer Aspire Revo. It measures about 1" by 7" by 7", packs a dual core processor, 2 gigs of ram (upgradable to), HDMI output, bluetooth support, etc all for less than 200 bucks. You can set it to boot a media center like XBMC (Linux based) and it will boot in under 30 seconds.

Anyways, check out the threads on it. I am getting a single DIN head unit in hopes of expanding with a carputer in the future. Trying to leave room for a flip up/pull out HD touch screen at some point or another!

If only I didn't live in Atlanta, where stealing shit from somone's car is a cultural past time, I just might get a carputer.

Eclipse works right out of the box. You just have to down load an update online. I love it.

Just installed a Alpine IDA-x100m media player today in my truck, I put the eclipse se 6500 speakers in all 4 doors, sounds awsome. Future mod will be a small sub from ********* that goes behind rear seat. I ran the IPOD to my glove compartment.

My hardest problem was trying to reinstall the stupid shock on glove box, its still off and will probabaly stay off.
