Have a K&N CAI right now which keeps setting of my engine light from the MAF.
Ordering an AEM Brute Force to replace it, read nothing but awesome stuff about it.
    Can't wait!
Loved the way the k&n changed the tone of my magnaflow.

People that have K&N and AFE filters in the stock box. How did you orientate your filter. When looking at the filter, I would think it would be like "B" diagram. But when I removed my old filter, it was setup as "A".
Ignore how the filter tapers in the diagram. It's obvious that which end goes to which end. It's just the orientation of the face of the filter that I'm concerned about. Just couldn't find the proper image.

    That's weird.

Here are pics of the old filter I pulled out. So does this mean my old filter was installed backwards? You can see how dirty the side is facing the intake tube, compared to the side that's facing the engine. This appears to be opposite of what everyone is telling me....

just some words of wisdom for all the K&N users... my engine just imploded at 89k. 70k of that was on a K&N filter. I'm guessing the added silica did my engine in.

Guessing is still guessing. Without facts and details, it's hard for us to make up our mind.

Dump some sand in your engine and the guessing will be over with.

That's the same as running a K&N in dusty conditions.

After cleaning my intake numerous times I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference when shit gets through a K&N or when it's stopped by a Wix.

Diagram A on my truck. Is this correct? Or does it matter?

Diagram A is the only way I can put a filter in my truck. The charcoal filter would prevent me from doing it like diag B

How does an engine implode? Especially as all output is outward force...

I'm not aware of an imploding engine...just a destroyed MAF from K&N's which I know has happened to many. I made the switch to AEM shortly after my K&N hahah. No imploding for me..

K&N put it in in 2009 so far i have 52000 on it with no problems. I live on a dirt road and do a lot of driving on dirt roads. I have pulled my secondary filter out. i haven't notice any oil buildup in the intake.

Installed a TRD Cold Air Intake on my 2012 Tacoma. I haven't checked fuel mileage. My foot is to heavy to for that to be of a concern for me. I definitly feel more throttle responce off the line. As far as noise, not really noticeable. It is an enclosed filter system which I prefer. (I also installed TRD Full Flow Exhaust)

I use the OEM air/oil and cabin filters on my truck. They all work great.
