Just sold my gas guzzler dodge ram(10mpg with 6" lift on 35's). Just wondering what you guys thought of this truck and if it is a good deal or not. I want a Tacoma beacuse I know they get good gas milage for a truck but the guy says hes only getting 15mpg. Would there be any way for me to improve that gas milage? Any input would be great!
    Thanks,
    Chris

Its lifted... cant expect good fuel economy when you roll a lift and large tires. You want better mpg?... then buy a truck that is stock height on stock tires.

lol then neither is good fuel mileage

the mods that increase mileage on a stock truck arent as likely to help a lifted truck from my experience, such as exhaust/intake, etc.

I think I can get better than 15mpg. Tacomas get in the 20's. When I has my ram I was getting 12 before I lifted it then I got around 10. So hopefully I can get around 18 on it. I really like the truck though other than the gas

I get 325 miles per tank and I have 265/75 16 maxxis bighorns, 2'' lift, Mb razors which are heavy, and a tonneau cover, and an intake.

You need to find out if that fuel mileage is even correct. If the owner isn't factoring in the inaccuracies caused by the larger tires, He'll be showing some terrible gas mileage. I wnt from 31" to 33" tires with a 3" lift and my fuel economy was barely affected.

i doubt it. i get 21 on the highway and 15 or 16 in the city. if he's saying 15 he means 15. he's trying to sell this thing, he's not gonna report his worst mileage, 15 is probably the best he gets. plus, the price is high imo, especially considering it's only a 2x4. my double cab TRD 4x4 is worth 22k. he's trying to get what he put into it as far as charging extra for the mods. for most people mods drop the price, not raise it. sounds like a bad deal to me

    NOPE....with intake and exhaust running 285/70/17's I'm averaging 15mpg if I'm lucky.

I agree, price is too high. Mods should bring the price down, not up (especially lift kits and larger tires/wheels).

    I just bought an '05 DC 4x4 SR5 (non-TRD) w/ 75k miles for $14k. Private party sale - but I feel I got a pretty good deal. For you: 2 years newer, fewer miles and mods = $19k - $20k imho.....

a "good" deal is invoice price, they will make it seem like you are stealing the truck from them at that price but you can go a little more under that. i got mine for about 300 under invoice, it msrp'd for 27694 and i got it for 24161+ttl. mine was a prerunner trd sport dc, not sure how much more the 4wds are.

get the TRD off road or sport pkg with side impact airbags, skip the 6 disc changer, aftermarket is better than factory. get the tow pkg. if you go offroading skip all the vehicle stability control options and expect to pay 26 to 27k dont pay over 27.
