I seen a few people had posted about changing the oil at jiffy lube or other places like that and their dealer refusing warranty work because of it. I talked to my service rep tonight and he explained it this way. Oil should be changed at 5,000 miles, you must use Toyota filter, you my choose any oil with your certain weight grade. He said that if your the guy that changes his own oil you must keep any and all receipts for oil filter with the mileage, and date you changed that oil at. So if you ever do have warranty issues with drive train you have a service history to prove you did everything correctly. Thanks guys for a awesome site!

Not true. If something happens to your truck, and you take it in for warranty work, they have the burden of proof.

I am sure it comes down to the dealer, but for at least my dealer they want a complete service record of work done. It also is always better to have the proof that you did everything correct anyways.

No, you don't have too prove anything. The burden of proof is on them.

Sounds like to me he wants YOU to take YOUR truck into HIM to change the oil. And use and PURCHASE oil from HIM and a filter from HIM.
It's a good idea to save those papers, but I don't think they can deny you warranty work just because you don't have a receipt on oil purchased. Or the fact that you didn't use a Toyota filter, sounds like B.S. to me.
