He's a good guy, you just gotta get him drunk on moonshine and then challenge him to a backyard wrestling match.

I dont have a problem with my Prerunner at all! Granted its still too small but the way it cant out perform some 4x4s due to its weight, it makes me all happy to know that I drive such a truck that doesnt get stuck..

Ive been to alot of slimy mud bogs. If I feel like I am starting to slide, I put it down in Low and ease in the gas, NO PROBLEM!!! The Southeast guys will cover for me when I say that when our dirt gets wet, ITS SLICK! about the same as ice.. Especially when you hit that clay..

The LSD is the only problem I have. Im sure I wouldnt slide in some situations if I didnt have an LSD.

Maybe if you're from Alabama. Up in north east Ohio where I'm from it snows from october to April and sometimes May.

That's more than half the year. And when I say it snows, I mean it snows big time.

I used my 4wd once this month to get through the beach. but besides that I don't think my car will see any mud anytime soon. Most people get trucks to haul and carry things not just go off-road. Nothing wrong with a PreRunner besides the name itself.

Last time I bothered to check the fastest trucks in the Baja 500 were 2 wheel drive. Same with the buggies........Four wheel is for climbing shit and getting out of mud. 2 wheels is all you need when your flying...

What? If you were there.. you would understand better ;)

It was softer than we thought. I hauled through it and found out that it was pure sand underneath... NO rocks, no hard clay.. nothing. I did notice that the last thing that went through the trail was a BullDozer.
    Well said!

I hate these threads. If this person is on your case about your truck being 4x4 or not, you need to hang out with more mature people. Some people cannot figure out that other people may not need 4x4, like myself. I don't need to go offroad and it hardly snows here in Texas. It's all about needs/wants, it doesn't make you more manly to have four wheel drive, and anyone that thinks that just proves how much of a jackass they really are.

    /end rant/

Exactly. This is what pre-runners were made for. If you want to go rock crawling or mud bogging then a pre-runner is definetly a bad idea. But for some regular desert road high speed (sometimes) driving a pre-runner is just what you need. I love how fast I can go on dirt roads because of the height of my truck vs. having a regular pickup truck. i owned a 89 4Runner for 11 years and only used 4wd a handful of times and I went off-roading alot. So I couldn't justify spending more money on something I wouldn't use that often. Plus I also own a 08 4Runner that is 4wd, so if I plan on doing some heavy off-roading then I take that one out.

To the op, who cares what other people think of your truck. If you bought a Tacoma for status then I feel sorry for you.:p

Really to be comparing 4x4 to Prerunners is comparing Apples to Oranges... No matter how much you try, there's going to be differences in what people prefer and what their wallet can take. If you want a 4x4, I would just get a beater truck and have fun with that.

No one can make you choose between one or the other... Its all up to you.
