I searched used vehicles and priced as private party (median price) w/ excel condition.

Not that it matters I plan to drive my taco till the wheels fall off (with any luck 300,000 maybe 400,000 miles?).
I just did the same thing for my almost new '08, came out $350 less than I paid; with the $1000 buyback voucher I used I'm actually $650 ahead!??!!??!!!

I've got no hard data, but Tacomas seem a lot scarcer in New England lately due to the buyback. One dealer told me he's been bringing a lot of new Tacomas up from the south to keep up with demand, while the Ford guy across the street was way down on sales. Lots of Tundras seem to be sitting on the lots though.

I think resale value on Tacomas is going to be pushed down by long term higher fuel costs. Also, to the extent that Toyota keeps running discount programs doesn't help resale much either.

Everybody feels the pinch of higher fuel prices. Buying patterns are shifting to smaller vehicles. I don't think that will turn around.

NADA, however, is $17,650.

I might be selling my Taco Tommorow. Waiting to hear back from a dealer if they are going to give me the deal I want.

Sorry guys, but Tacomas are NOT going to lose their value as gas prices go up - at least not my I4...

Lots of people who were buying Ford F150's are going to be buying...TACOMAS.

Lots of guys who were buying Dodge Rams are going to be buying...TACOMAS.

Tundras? Now TACOMAS.

Granted, if you're driving a truck b/c you like driving a truck (instead of needing a truck for work), you'll be driving a car in the next few years but if you NEED a truck, you'll be driving a smaller, more efficient truck - a TACOMA!

Compared to the other mid-sized/compact trucks out there Toyota holds its value extemely well. I know I am on my 4th Taco.

Hmmm, My neighbor walked over this weekend and asked if I was selling mine. He's losing his company truck. I didn't even have it for sale. (I don't use it all the time since I have a fun summer car). Guess he thought since I had two vehicles, I wanted to sell it

In my region, smaller pickups, especially 4WD, are always in demand & tough to find.

You make no sense. People are downsizing so what will they downsize to if they need/want a truck? DUH.

kbb still says my truck is worth $9500
nada says $13,500
edmunds says $10,900

not bad since i owe less than all of them

i heard something on the radio today that in the past month or 2...the toyota prius is the nations top selling car...followed by lexus' large suv...

kind of funny how the top 2 are at opposite ends of the fuel consumption spectrum

Hmm...just checked kbb.com and retail on mine is $3k more than I paid, and private party is $200 more than I paid...I'm optimistic (but not naive) that the value will remain consistent.

LOL, forgot about the Skirtline. I was thinking more like Ranger but then realized that wasn't an option either since you actually have to have your truck available to you and not in the shop.

Yes, it's the same design for something like the last 14 years, I think. They have a redesign coming out in '10. And Ford wonders why their sales were down 28% last month.
