they are discontinuing the ranger and making a new compact pickup truck. It has something to do with government mandated fuel efficiencies.

Considering gas prices these days I wouldn't be surprise about a slight drop it price. But Hell, who would want to sell their's anyway. Unless of course your trading it in for a newer model Taco. I'm more than happy to keep mine till I run it into the ground. I doubt I'll be looking for a new one anytime soon, maybe in 2020. BTW, Have I mentioned that I LOVE my ride. "Oh what a feeling!"

i heard something on the radio today that in the past month or 2...the toyota prius is the nations top selling car...followed by lexus' large suv...

kind of funny how the top 2 are at opposite ends of the fuel consumption spectrum
-------------------------------------------------------------

The Prius is one of the highest in demand, but Toyota can not build enough for it to make #1 in sales; there are just not enough to go around.

EDIT: 181,221 Prius were sold for MY 2007 in the US; 53% more than MY 2006. For a comparison Toyota sold 196,555 Tundra's of a projected 200,000 for MY 2007. Of course the Tundra is not a car; was just using another Toyota vehicle with lots of public visibility for comparison.

Exclamation Why you get a Utah deal

I think to get that price on a truck like that you have to be mormon,be a return missionary,go to church every sunday for 3 hrs consistently,be married in the temple, wear special underwear, have 3 wives, pay your 10% tithing for 5 yrs straight, and hold a position of a bishop or higher. I think I heard that if you are a prophet or in the quarm of the 12 apostles you get the truck for 15k out the door. And oh yea,I think you needed to propose to your wive's on the temple steps. Did I leave anything out?

If they did that, I'd buy it. Toyota needs to get on the ball and drop a diesel in the Tacoma. It's not like they don't already do it overseas:

BTW, WTH ran in front of him at the beginning? Looks like a friggin dingo or something.

LOL, "bush camp"...

KBB and all the other "blue books" are in the publication business. They sell magazines. Not one of them will offer you a dime for your ride... Try going to a dealer when you are ready to trade and they offer you less than KBB... they'll tell you the same thing Nothing holds its value like a Tacoma. That is why I made the switch from Fords (I've had 8 of them). The only true way to determine your truck's value is to look through your local classifieds and call the sellers. If they aren't able to sell, it's too high.

I couldn't agree more about Ford. I, too, have owned 8 and trade in always involved a horrible realization (that Fords suck).

I've said it before and I'll say it again, my family has owned several Fords and all of them where as problem free as the Toyotas.

Hell I have a realative who took one of those Aerostar or whatever (the big boxy ugly thing from the 90s) to 200K miles.

Same here... all trouble free. But... they do not hold any value... period. I've had 3 Rangers, 2 F-150s, 2 Explorers, and my wife currently drives an 03 Expedition. I consider myself a patriot, but sadly, the market is cold when it comes to used domestics (Chevy and Dodge also lose value as fast as Oprah on Slim Fast)...

truck wise i aint got any prob with domestics, shiat us Mexicans love Ford, Dodge, and Chevy, and I'd buy a truck from these companies in a sec if I needed one in full size or higher. I bought my Tacoma truck because no one else makes a good 4banger truck, it's all about Toyota for that. Domestic cars though, I wouldn't even think once about getting.

Domestic vs foreign has kind of lost it's significance.
Which is the domestic truck, the Chevy Silverado built in Mexico or the Toyota Tacoma built in California?

You are right, here people love gm, ford, dodge, but my guess is because we didnt knew better, those where the only options we had in the past for trucks, when they introduced the nissan titan it sold like hot bread, tacoma is selling very well not to mention the tundra, my dad was a Ford only guy, now he is driving a Tundra Crew Max

Huh?!! ..What the hell does any of that have to do with buying a Tacoma? Are you saying that if you go to that dealer and you're NOT any of those things you won't be treated on an equal footing with someone who is? ..Wierd!!!!!!!

I WISH the value of my tacoma would plummet. In RI we pay property tax on vehicles with a value of over $5000 and I just had to write another check for $400 for the privilege of not driving a piece of junk.

thats f.. ed up man.... here in Mexico we have vehicle property taxes they go more or less like these

Property tax... once a year
vehicles 10 years old
Cars, suvs: percentage of the original value, ie for a new altima you pay around $500
Trucks pick ups: They pay around $60, coz they are cataloged as work vehicles, lucky me

But, every two years they make new license plates which costs around 200 bucks or more, which is f..ed up coz i will have to buy new plates next year and i just bought mine.....

^We also have vehicle property taxes here. Mine was $330 this year. However, My insurance is half what it was in my native NJ and I also only paid $469 for my home property tax this year so I can't complain.
