Do you warm up your truck before driving?

When my truck use to park outside all the time I let her warm up and let the rpms drop. Now that she sits in a garage I just wait for the roar of the engine to die down a bit then shift and go

It warms up so fast that I just drive like grandpa for the first half mile or so. Owner's manual says no need for warmup and the faster it goes into closed loop, the better. Catalytic converters are expensive, long periods of unburned fuel are bad for them.

Plus, I am too impatient!

i noticed that just lighting up the engine and driving off heats up the engine quicker than letting it sit there, especially if its cold out

I'll start it up and back out of the garage, go inside to get what I need for work and then I'm gone. So about 3-4 minutes.

 

Shit at 10mins I am at work already. Unless I stop for a biscuit with sausage at Whataburger.

 

depends on the weather.
In the winter I let it warm up for several minutes.
In the summer, I let it warm up for at 45 seconds.
Just enough time so that the oil gets pumped through.

 

i also wait till idle drops.....

 

I let it warm up in the winter so my balls don't freeze during the drive. Rest of the year, I just drove.

 

Park on a hill and pop the clutch. That way you're already rollin' when you start up

 

depends, if i'm aggravated / pissed off i just go high idle or not... if i'm not aggravated then i let the truck warm up.

 

I give it 10 seconds, rev it up and drop the clutch. It circulates the oil quicker by throwing the oil towards the back of the pan near the sump.

 

I usually just get in and drive. Unless it is cold outside, I will warm up the truck a bit before I get in....

 

i just go.

unless it's freezing outside. then i warm it up, but only so the heater can provide some warmth..for me. i dont warm up the engine for the engine's sake, ever. i drive very easy for the first part. take it easy. i warm up the motor by easy driving it.

 

I try to warm mine up first. However, I do agree with ktmrider and keep it under 2k for a while if you do take off right away.
