Duplicolor Bed Armor

Just saw this stuff on Gearz and I am kind of interested in using it to coat the composite taco bed.
I could not find any info about how it works on the tacoma bed so I sent an email to them.

Anyone try this stuff?
This is the newer stuff " Now with Kevlar " looks kind of like a good product.

 

The best is already composite... why coat it with anything??

 

More grip?

If that's your aim look for a bed mat.

 

Grip is good, the composite is slicker than owl snot.
Plus I don't think the composite will give at all like steel does.
Yes the steel will dent but I think the composite will fracture as it seems very hard and will break before bending.

Have to believe it will quiet down the road noise as well.
I was flopping around in the bed putting in the D-rings and man when I dropped anything it was very loud.

I have only been around these bed materials about a year so I am only going by my time with them.

Anyone ever put a hole in one or crack one?

 

anything less than rhinolined and line-x you will be sorry. they dont hold up like the "real" stuff

 

I had an 07 for 2.5 years. I did my whole backyard with it. Going to rock yards and having em dump a ton of rock in at a time. Tore out large chunks of curb and tossed em in, never had a crack, hole or any other damage.

 

sorry to drag up an oldie... but better than starting a new thread right?

any people put this on the 2nd gen bed? will it have any issues sticking to the composite bed??? the kit was 100 bucks, dont want to waste it...

I emailed Duplicolor ad they could not or would not answer that question.
They suggested calling Toyota to see if it was compatable with the composite material.
How would Toyota know if it would without knowing what material the liner was?

 

They are idiots.

 

freaking crap... I'll be pissed if I try it and cant return the damn kit... 100 dollars down the drain.

in this case if it aint broke dont fix it. just return the kit and get a bed mat

I used the spray on duplicor for my bumpers (you can check it out on my build page). It looks good but is not very durable. And it took almost 2 weeks to completely harden up to where it may be durable enough to handle a little abuse.

But if you're just looking for traction, go with the oem rubber bed mat. That's what my dad did and everyone else who uses it is very happy with it too.

 

any update on this??? ive got the kit sitting here. will it stick? or will it just peel off our composite bed???

I noticed a chip cracked off from my rear bumper. I don't know why it chipped. I would imagine it would adhere to the composite just as well as a steel bed. But even then, I wouldnt trust it. Especially if you're planning on abusing it a lot. If you're gonna be throwing dirt, rocks, or anything else like that back there, go with line-x or another professional brand.
