Old people texting and driving. I have seen a few. You would think they would know not to. Funny as hell to see them fixing their glasses and texting with one thumb and not payig attention to the road. CRAZY!!

Good, endanger yourself to safe an inanimate object. Brilliant.

I've been hit 5 times in ~25 yrs. Three of the drivers were 20 yrs old or younger and just not paying attention. One was ~25 and not paying attention. One was 40ish and tried to force a 15 foot long truck in a 14 foot opening in traffic. I did have one ~80 yr old pull out right in front of me but was able to avoid her. My experience is people need to pay more attention while behind the wheel.

I do agree about having to retest for vision and reaction at a certain age- maybe 60. Problem is that old people vote and wouldn't positively view a legislator that voted for legislation that "took away their car (freedom)" so it is unlikely to happen. 60 minutes did a show on older drivers years ago where they followed senior drivers in FL- it was scary as hell!

Exactly. My grandfather is in better shape (and better behind the wheel) at 83 than my next door neighbour is at 60. But I do agree that there should be a point when a person is required to get regular testing. My great grandfather (who lived to be 102) voluntarily gave up his license at 80 because he knew he wasn't as responsive as he once was, even though the government was willing to renew it.

Here's why that will never happen: Senior citizens, by percentage, vote more than anyone else. We've all seen them at the voting precinct lined up at 6:45am waiting for doors to open at 7:00am. They cannot WAIT to vote and every politician out there knows it and now that the baby boomers are retiring, the senior population will go through the roof.
