My 2008 Tacoma has the electrostatic rearview mirror (with the on/off switch). I just order the new Passport 9500IX detector and a rearview mirror mount and I want to run a dedicated power cable to it.

Is there a 12V signal running to the rearview mirror that I could splice into to support the detector?

As usual, thanks in advance for the help!

Cool, so that green wire plus a ground should do it. Correct?

Assuming that you don't pull more power then the wire, or the fuse it's on can handle.

I am powering my GPS off the dome light circuit. Right up in that area is the mirror, compass and maplights. All these can give you a power and ground point to wire in the detector. Just grab a mulitmeter and make sure its switched with ignition or else it will always be on.

Might want to run an inline fuse...will the detector come with a hardwire install kit (like V1s do)?

i did a writeup how to install the rearview mirror and laid out what is switched power and what is ground. It would totally work no problem. It would even turn on and off with your key

the link is in my sig if you need a guide.

I got an inline fuse system setup in my truck and plan on using it for this, I just wasnt sure if it would draw enough power for the radar detector.

Great write up! I'm looking at a few mirrors on ebay, one came from a highlander and the other came from a sienna. I'm just not sure if it's a trustworthy source to buy from...any opinions?

    Thanks!

both should be just fine. I think Toyota used the same one for most.
