    I like nice quality aluminum ones. They're light enough to carry around, and seem plenty durable from my uses.

    Spacer lift, bumper stickers, ejector seat, etc.
    The aluminum could be lighter but could also handle 8000 lbs. I'm just saying I think a steel jack would be sturdier for garage use... ;)

    I was going to buy a 2 ton steel jack and 3 ton stands so I can rotate ties on my 4x4 access cab and my wife's RAV4.

    For tire rotations, I plan to put up jack stands on both front and back after using the floor jack to elevate the tires off the ground. I would never leave the floor jack elevated even for the lighter back end. I would also chalk the other side tires on the ground. (This was what I was taught.)

    Would a 2 ton steel jack and 3 ton jack stands be sufficient to jack up hold up a Tacoma 4x4 front end?

    I wanted to make sure before I go to the store.

    oil change...

    I get cupons in the back on my guns and ammo mags for these jacks at harbor freight, not sure if its the same brand but they are only $60

    So if someone wants a lightweight 3 ton floor jack, grab a copy of guns and ammo for that cupon

    Get the aluminum one works great and it's lighter. Also get the 3 Ton, since most 2 Ton jacks are too small for a truck or SUV.

    This is true. Look for a jack with around 20" of lift range. Some of those smaller jacks that only lift 15 - 17 inches will not get the tires off the ground.

    I don't know about you but if you place the jack under your control arm or axle you will never have that problem. If you insist to lift the body instead, you can use a ratchet strap to preload the spring so you don't have to have a jack that has 40" of travel. :cool:
