Westin Bull Bar question?

Newby here....Hello I want to install a Westin Bull Bar on my 2010 Taco so I was wondering if the Silver Skid Plate (not the stock one) needs to be remove?

 

i dont have a 2nd gen tacoma but i DID have a westin bar for a year or so. it mounts with four bolts, two on each side of the frame. if the four bolts on the underside of the frame are not visible with the skid plate then id say you would probably need to take it off... but im making a suggestion i dont know the 2nd gen. tacomas as well as th 1st.

p.s. i loved the look of my westin bar but if you are planning on wheelin ur taco. get something a little more aggressive. the westin bar makes it inconvienent for all frontal recovery situations. the westin bar will not mount up correctly unless the front tow hook is flipped backwards. (making it useless) also the skid plate will not take much abuse to anything out on the trails...

had one on my 07 sport, didnt have to remove it.

 

I didn't have to remove my skidplate. I also didn't have to remove my towhook - however even the directions say you have to do this. I'm wondering what I did wrong, its mounted fine and seems solid.

The bull bar is mostly for aesthetics. I managed to push mine into my bumper the first time I had it on and went wheeling. It looks really good but don't count on it for anything.

 

Kept the skid plate and tow hook on my 2009.
