Yes blower relates to a ROOTS supercharger.
Gains are 70hp to the crank.

Cool air is dense...... Dense air creates more hp.

    Mpg is unaffected

Hmm. I wish the gains of a TCAI or Ram air were enough to justify buying one. Not dissing them, just am on a budget and need some real functionality to spend my stagnant $$$s

Urd tcai is good for 10+ HP

The only issue with the stock setup is the box itself.... Get rid of the piece of crap. Thrown on the urd, afe stage 2 si, or the volant and u will see gains due to the removal of the stock airbox/resonator.

I'm not in disbelief of that-it's just that I don't use my truck in WOT at any time. I accelerate slowly and cruise at 60 MPH on the highway between school and home once a week. When with friends I drive the speed limit but I am never flooring it, so the only benefit that fits my needs is MPG. I do think a ram air system (Not necessarily a ram air from a company, but a self designed one) could improve MPG because I have heard often that snorkels increase MPG, and by that logic there must be ways to improve it with some rigging.

I was actually looking at that recently. It is so strange to me that that actually works. For a few reasons.

1)Something that simple-couldn't Toyota have just designed an intake that was already that spaced if it increases power? Why not if it really works?
2)The very first thing I (thought I) learned on TW was the throttle body spacers were no more than gimmicks. And now I'm hearing they make gains? :Goingcrazy:

Well it does make sense pertaining to the intake spacer. In the intake manifold with short runners you lose the low end and mid range but gain a lot in the high end. With the longer runners you gain low end and mid range but suffer in the high end.

A perfect example is the Honda dual intake manifold on the 94-01' Acura Integra GSR. On low rpm the long runners are open and short runners are closed. During a preset rpm 5500 rpm and up, the short runner opens up helping the engine get the air flow quicker. I hope that make sense.

So with the spacer you just lengthing the intake manifold runner and moving the power band down a tad in the rpm.

Okay, so I guess I would see gains from one at my end-2000 RPM?

You'll be making gains around 1500-3500 rpm. The sweet spot on the 1GR which I believe it lives it's life around the most.

Then I might have to try it some time.

How can it be anything other than a low air pressure area, of course it will be, its a dead leg for any air flow (plugged hood scoop). Now, if you unplug the scoop, measure the air flow and you'll find it is quite high, next move, add a vacuum to the equation and this should be sufficient to providing combustion air to the motor. Just to add some perspective, what would make anyone believe that the OEM filter arrangement is in a higher air pressure area, lol.
