    Happy Thanksgiving everyone...!

Please let me (and Toyota) know if your mirrors are loose! I haven't found too many 2010's to date that aren't!

The drivers side mirror on my 2008 HAD the same problem.

Here is a fix posted on this board over a year ago with pics.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/114005-loose-mirror-housing-arm.html

On the bottom of the mirror housing there's a little cover covering two screws. Using a very small flat screw driver, open the cover, tighten the screws, and push the cover back into place. It's that simple. I never even noticed the cover until I saw this fix posted.

Geez fellas, use the search feature.......

Referenced this earlier in the post. No joy on that fix. Tried it when I bought the truck and several times since. It's not the torx screws. I think I may have found something though. I'll be posting something up soon...

    Guys:

I appreciate all of the replies, but before anyone else tells me to use the search feature or tighten the torx screws under the mirror, please read the entire thread. Here's what I've found:

The first pictures are of my 2010. Notice the large gap all the way around the mirror and pay particular attention to the bottom left outside corner.

The second two pictures are of my new 2012 at the dealer. (Was driven in from WV and needs a wash, I think I may pick it up today). See the bottom left corner? Totally different mirror housing. It also looks like the glass is bigger and the mirror itself looks bigger overall.

If my assumptions were correct (and some others here have alluded to it), most of the vibration was caused by air over the mirror. I drove another TRD-OR 2012 and the mirrors were good to go. Still going to drive mine today to be sure. If there are 2011 owners out there who wouldn't mind doing so, please let us know if your mirrors look like the 2010 or the 2012. I know the Sport models with heated signal mirrors are different for those reasons, but I'm not sure what the housing looks like.

Toyota Corporate (Customer Care) wasn't even aware of the design change. I told them I wanted a new truck because I was sick of my mirrors vibrating! They obviously knew they had a problem. I've been dealing with them on this issue since I owned the truck (almost two years). In their defense, they helped me out with the purchase of my new one...!

    SO...The fix? Buy a 2012!:D

Good luck, guys. Have a great Christmas.

    Rossi

No such issue with the 2005s or the 2008s I have now when 3 sail panel scerws and other ones under the mirror were tight. Musta been a later thing.

I think it's hit or miss. Guys with '05's and other years have the same issue. Good that yours are tight...

As I had stated earlier, I have no issues on my 2010. Mine has the same rounded housing as in your first pictures but I do NOT have that gap like you do.

I've had the same issue with my 2015 since I bought it new, the passenger mirror would hum at highway speeds. I finally took both mirrors apart and found that the driver side mirror had thin foam between the glass and the plastic assembly, where the passenger side did not. The driver side also had 2 flat springs sticking straight out of the assembly, perpendicular to the glass. The springs and foam are what resists movement. The fact that they were missing would appear to be a manufacturing defect.
