THANK YOU! used this method (but installed the new, thicker toyota spacer pads as opposed to cut hose)...super easy; didnt even remove the rear wheels. Only tools i used were my oem jack kit, a butter knife, and a pair of channel lock pliers...plus I got to try out my new hilift!

    The old spacers...total junk:

Does the part #04001-28104 include 4 pads in the "kit" or do you have to order 4 of them at $23.30?

My buddy with his tacoma just started getting the leaf spring squeak. I thought it would be his bushings going bad but now I will have to check out these little spring isolators first once I see his truck.

cant help but think that the thin tire tube will wear out and youll have a squeak again, but maybe theres not much movement in that area?//

I tried this the other day.... I could NOT pry those things apart. I could barely get a crowbar in there, and not enough to have very much leverage. It popped out a lot. I managed to get one pad on, and half of it was hanging off.

    Suggestions?

Yeah I used the frame. I was heavily warned against jacking up from the dif. Where is a safe place to jack the rear up for this diy?

anywhere on the frame is fine (close to the control arm mount). All I was suggesting is that you need to jack from the frame not the suspension so that the leafs are fully extended. One the wheel is off the ground, the leafs *should* be separated enough to pry them open and insert something.

If you have a cold chisel and a BFH (big f'ing hammer) use them to drive the leafs open

that squeaking drove me nuts, but since I did this I haven't heard them again

I guess I need to just try harder. Worst case scenario remove leaves.

I have the Toytec add a leaf pack on my truck. Will this part number 04001-28104 still be all I need to fix this issue? Or will i need to buy 2 of these or go the home made route?

    thanks for any input:D

I never came back to share my results. I guess I just needed some more umph, I got the inner tube between all four locations. However, I still have squeaks coming from the bushings which I need to fix. If anyone else has this problem, I believe it can be fixed by removing the leaves and adding dry lubricant to them. I have been advised NOT to use WD-40 as it will dry them out.
