Hi, I have searched the forum and didn't find what I was looking for.
I would like to install a temporary flag mount for the fourth of July.

    I found this thread:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/11029-flag-pole-bed.html

and I might be able to do something like this. I am looking for something that I can strap in and easily remove. Any ideas? I do have the D rings in the front if that helps.

    thanks in advance.

Yeah I saw that too. Its nice, but I do not have a welding machine and it looks kind of difficult to do.

great I will try it this weekend thank you.

how fast do you think I would be able to drive if I secured it tight and also provided some lateral tie down supports?

i will tell you that those adjustable flag pole mounts do not hold up well to speeds greater than 35+

    the teeth break pretty easily

i ended up tossing that setup in favor of a sport mast

So I found a down rod at lowes for $1.50 on clearance, cut it to the approriate length (i wanted metal so it would not break or bend.) Then I found a 6''x8'' block of wood and drilled the correct size for the down rod. I then wrapped the end of the down rod with duct tape and hammered it into the block.

I strapped it down and I was easily able to go 80MPH+ no problems.
