:sorry:Im new to the website and this is my frist post. I know I can use the search button, but everytime I do use it allot of other stuff comes out that I really dont need so I just decided to make a thread and ask a question. So im sorry once again guys but would really need some help as im looking foward to purchasing a tacoma soon.:help:

I am looking to purchasing a 06-08 tacoma but dont know if I should go with a TRD double cab taco or a regular double cab taco. Once I get the truck im planning on adding a 3 inch lift to it. Spacer in the front and a AAL in the rear. But my question is, would the suspension be better on a TRD or a regular double cab considering im going to be doing a 3 inch lift on it???? As well im looking to fit anywhere from 33s-35s on it.

Not really looking foward to doing any hardcore offroading but maybe taking it to the trail sometimes for biking and paintballing. As well I am MAINLY going to be pulling a jet ski with the truck, so thats why i dont want to go with a 6 inch lift even tho it looks so sick and sexy :D

TRD. someone else chime in if I am wrong, but TRDs have a greater towing capacity or load rating.

there are two TRD models. the TRD sport and the TRD Off Road. then you have the SR5 and the base model. all can come in the 4 door (double cab).
and all can come in 4x4 or 2x4 (prerunner) and they both will sit at the same height.
4x4 is not and taller than the prerunner (2wd)

the OFF road has a rear locker, very good for off roading
the Sport has a hood scoop and color matched grill and rear bumper
both TRD models will have better seats, a temp and compass gauge, a power outlet in the bed, different wheels than the sr5 or base model

the base model has neither the locker or the hood scoop and will have unpainted fender flares

when doing the search feature check the little box that says "search titles only"

now out of the 3 trucks im using for inspiration as far as the 3 inch lift kit that I want to install would the front spacers and rear AAL be enough to aquire a look like that?

as long as its not the 5 lug tacoma then you can lift it like that. since they dont make a 5 lug double cab you can do this to any one of the trucks you have listed

Yes, I hate you! lol j/k thanks for the compliment :D If I was to have a TRD, it would be the off road because of the locker. Hood scoop and color matched of the Sport doesn't really catch my eye.

The TRD Off Road comes with a rear locker, which locks the rear axle, so that both rear tires spin instead of one. Base models and TRD Sport package have LSD(Limited Slip Diff.)

im shocked. really didnt know that at all. so the trd off road package would be my best option. especially since im always at a ramp launching the jet ski and the ramps are always slippery. BETTER TRACTION!!!!:taco:

heres another way of explaining a locker....have u ever seen a truck off road and has only one wheel spinning in the back and other other wheel isnt moving at all? thats what happens when u have a open differential. once u engage the locker it distributes the power equally on both wheels to prevent only one wheel spinning and they both move at the same speed, giving you better traction

now is that a button you have to push to engage or its automatically done once the truck feels sometime of slipping with the tires?
