Well got my 2013 DCSB prerunner back from the dealership yesterday, from where they incised I needed to put a rear motor mount bracket on my truck to fix my shake. As the SM handed me the keys, he said if I am not satisfied with the ride of my truck there is nothing else they can do. I would have to contact Toyota. Guess what it exactly the same. All they did was keep my truck a week and cost me a bunch of fuel money taken and going to dealership. So I guess the factory rep is next.

If any body out there has solved this issue would they please let me no how. My truck is completely stock, steal wheels Dunlop's great tire wear balanced ever way possible. It's between 55 and 65. Road surface does seam to affect it, but not that rough roads make it worst the worst shake I have seen is on a fresh paved road. Please help toyota rep is next step for me. I will keep any body interested up to date.

After wheel shake issues with 2 different tacos using non Toyota wheels I took some advice from guys on this site and ordered some hub centric rings. I have not road force balanced it yet, but it's 98% good now.

My dealership's service dept. has told me they've done all they can do to fix the steering wheel shake (numerous road force balancing attempts and a new set of Michelin highway tread tires, which i had to partially pay for); however, it still didn't fix the problem
I had continued to pursue my case with Toyota; however, it's moving along at a snail's pace. I finally decided to go drive a new tacoma (same everything down to the Dunlops, except no towing package); what do you know, no steering wheel vibration!
I ended up trading my 9 month old truck in with 20K miles, paid 0 down, got the dealership to switch to Michelins i just put on my old truck, and they even added a towing package since i had one on my old truck. Yes, I'm starting over with my truck payments 7 payments in; but, my payment is less than $10 more than my previous payment; so, if this fixes it, it's worth it to me.
I'm still not giving up on Toyota to see if i can get something out of them for the measures i had to go through. I know the "buy back program" opens the door for the dealership to recoup additional revenue; but, i feel like it was the best option to work something out with the dealership. If it's truly a defect from the factory, the dealership can only do so much.
    Anyone have any similar experiences?

This problem has been an existing problem since the 2005 Tacomas. If you have stock wheels, the shop balancing needs a Haweka lug centric adapter. Unfortunately not many places have this adapter or even know what it is.

Road force balancing without using the lug centric adapter will not fix it. The lug centric adapter with a regular balancing will fix the problem. You can road force balance with the adapter for good measure.

Unfortunately road force balancing with a haweka adapter does not fix all shaken problems. My 2013 has been balanced and still shakes. Toyota has not been able to figure out what is causing the problem. They just keep replacing things motor mounts, drive shafts, tires. There is no way there can be this many trucks, new trucks at that. And this be a balancing issue.

Anyone know of any places with a lug centric adapter in southeast PA? After replacing my stock wheels and dunlops (no vibrations) with SCS F5s and duratracs (265/75r16), I get vibes over 55mph. The new wheels have been RF balanced twice so I'm thinking the adapter might be needed. Thanks.

Make sure you have conical seat lug nuts. That's all I needed to fix it after new wheels and tires (duratracs).

The new wheels came with the correct style lug nuts so I don't think it's that.

Made an appointment at an automotive place up the road. The guy raised up the truck and we looked all underneath it, checked tie rods/wheel bearings, everything was good. Took the tires off and ran them on the balancer with a "cone" and zeroed them all out. Still rides the same. I think the only remedy for this is to go back to stock size tire, maybe with or without the aggressive tread.

At this point I would swap my duratracs for some rugged trails...

I'm also in talks with the dealership about a 13 model they still have on the lot that doesn't shake. :(

I got new rims installed yesterday and noticed a vibration of the steering wheel on the freeway at 65-70 mph.

DT balanced the tires but I installed it myself at home. I dealt with many aftermarket rims myself before.

I bought the hub rings but didn't use it since the ZX wheel has cap that is used to center the wheel.

Any recommendations? I will check the tire pressure after work and maybe ditch the cap and use the rings to see if the issue is still there.

Also, I have the correct nuts (conical style):D

Does the '013 shake when you put your tires on it?

I'm avoiding a rotation and balance because my '010 rides pretty nice right now and I don't want to muck it up, like the last 3 balances before this one...

My 08 has just recently started doing the dreaded steering wheel shake in the 50-70mph range. I've had aftermarket rims and tires on for over a year now with no problems until these past couple weeks.

Also, and what I find to be the most strange, the shaking is not ALL the time, sometimes the wheel will be smooth as can be in the 50-70mph range. If it were a balancing problem, wouldn't the steering wheel be shaky all the time and at other speeds as well??

Tire pressure is good. Anybody have any idea how this shake could be an intermittent issue?

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I know my fronts are always out of balance a bit because the brake calipers eat wheel weights.

I would say have them check the balance and put the lead in a different way but they dont seem to listen to me. Im going to do it myself here after my alignment is done

I wouldn't put my duratracs on it, and when I did upgrade tires I wouldn't upsize the tire.

Same here, sometimes smother than others. Never all the way gone , but certainly differences.

I figured it out. I'm just going to go either under 50 or over 80.
