So like, does anyone have a dash camera setup? Needs to be pretty decent. I want to protect myself in case of assholes who run red lights or insurance scammers.

Needs to have good visibility and at least 30 FPS to get a nice fluid video. Has to be able to see lights clearly.

    Ideas?

Yes, but want it at the dash so I can get a wider viewing angle. Would like it to be small and compact. Have the option to run off cig lighter or batteries would be great.

Go Pro is a good unit. I'm not sure how you would do it but the best would be a continuos loop recording. Then if there's an incident you just press stop.

I would worry about "go pro" type thing. You'd probably have to be unlucky, but round here, if you don't take it out of your car, there's a better than live-with-able chance of it breaking your window to get out of your car and run away.

Just being the devils advocate, but I just returned from dropping a friend off at the glass shop to pick up his FJ after his GPS leapt through the window to freedom the other day.

I would say go pro as well. They are coming out with a new skeleton fram for it so you will be able to charge it while it is in the case
