i've found some posts of people talking about them, but i'm not sure if anyone actually uses them.

goal: run '11 16" steel wheel TPMS in a particular non-toyota OE wheel.

fords use them...Not bad, but if anyone has to take your tire off the rim, tell them upfront there are bands in there, cuz they snap easy. If your changing wheels and tires, just take the sensors out and save yourself alot of headaches.

i did find one write-up somewhere about how to keep the light off with what looks like a simple reverseable wiring trick behind the glove box.

i don't mind the idea of TPMS, but i also would feel much better about having them stem mounted vs. via band.

theres also a way to do it using PVC(kinda looks like a pipe bomb). Put sensors inside, close it then put a regular valve stem in the top and pressurize the pvc. Bingo light goes out.

    where in jersey are ya?

i live in cape may county, near OC.

i am liking that idea the most, actually.

i wonder if screw-on ends and cement would work as opposed to JUST cementing caps onto the pipe.

I have done a ton of research on this and have found the best option is to run the TPMS straps. I have been running them now for a year and daily at over 110mph and have had no problems. It is very important that you get them on tight and that you get your tires balanced as soon as you install them.

not a fan of the straps they are a pain in the ass! I mounted some wheels and tires on a ford edge and it sucked!
