I know that it is not proper to ask what someone paid for something, however I live in a part of the country where dealers like to price gouge as a sport and I need to protect myself.

I was considering a Leer XQ, but since I will be carrying dogs I like the idea of the 50/50 slider windows featured on the XR, so I think an XR is what I will shop for. There is only one Leer dealer in the area, and I am going down there tomorrow afternoon and need to have some kind of idea of what folks are paying for those.

So, if you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for your XR new and installed? I am going to want the slider/hinged cab window as a minimum option.

    Thanks for your help.

Wow. No replies. Does this mean that folks aren't sure they got the best price they could. Oh well......onward and upward.

I bought my 100XQ used and it is for a 1st Gen so you can't really go off what I payed. I found it used on consignment at a topper dealer for $400. Point is, look around on CL and stop by dealers and you might get lucky.

Hey OP... I got mine as a negotiated part of my truck purchase. Think I paid $1200, which basically was the dealer wholesale. I have heard prices of $1800 - $2000. Not cheap, but it's a good cap. One good way to check prices is to use the Internet to locate other dealers around the country, and ask for a price quote over the phone. That'll give you an idea if your dealer is gouging. Here's my installer in Denver metro -- A&A Topper - 303-797-3233.

One recommendation -- if you have dogs, get the Leer "Pet Screens" installed as an option. They're basically a rubber coated wire mesh that bolts over the existing screens, and can take a serious beating. Your dogs won't be getting through them. Also if you think you might EVER add a rack to your shell, get the thule rack rails installed. They can be added at a later date, but if you get it done at time of purchase, the factory does the install meaning you get lifetime warranty against leaks. They were a $180 addition when I purchased.

My XR was $1450 with carpet, removable front slider and the AA light. I bought it during a factory rebate earlier this year of $100 I think. I really liked the XQ but was quoted $2150 so I went with the XR instead.

That's a nice price. Yes, definitely get the headliner (carpet) as it adds insulating value. OP .. I forgot that you are a double cab .. 5' bed as opposed to 6'. That'll save you a few bucks. I have no idea where I got that $1800, so I did a bit more research for you.

Definitely, I wanted it anyway but the carpeted ceiling was thrown in free under the same promotion. The shop I got it from in Colorado Springs was also very good about the only issue that arose. I had an adjustment issue with the wire linking the handle after it stretched a bit but they took care of it right away.

It's been about a year and a half but it was around $1300. I have the front slider/removable window and carpet liner (not the bed). I wish I would have had the rack put on top, but I can have that added.
