My Antennae keeps coming loose...

Every since I lifted the truck, the antennae keeps coming lose. At first, I thought it was lil gremlins trying to steal it every night, and then giving up after about 90% complete...

Then I realized it is most likely caused from the vibes of the drive-line and the knobby tires.

I will try locktite red at first, but I may be looking at getting nubby. I saw a link before.

you'll be fine with a stubby unless you like to listen to the radio in relatively remote places. It will affect your reception having a short antenna....speaking from experience.

 

Mine was coming lose before i lifted. Maybe a little lock tight.

 

Mine's not lifted, but the antenna kept coming loose. I just took a rag, put it around the antenna so it doesn't get scratched, and tightened it down with a pair of pliers. Hasn't come loose since.

 

Some teflon tape - I used it 16 months ago and it's stayed on tight ever since

 

I would try a small rubber o/ring before i used lock-tight. It would act like a lockwasher they are black so they will blend with the ant. and it would be alot easier to remove..

 

These are all great ideas.

Just put a few drops of Elmers Glue on the thread and put it back on.
I have done this on all my trucks in the past. They stay on and are easy
to take off.
Everybody has Elmers or Carpenters glue laying around.

 

On adding the After market Air filters------
What is the payback time? Maybe a lifetime.
So whats the purpose?

 

Try the blue first. Reds too much for that.
