2010-2012 4runner heated seat switch work on 2012 Taco empty slots?

This is kind of a shot in the dark.

has anyone tried to fit the 4runner 2010-2012 heated seat switch on the 2012 Taco empty slots next to the A-trac switch? they're both square and look about the same size. I went down to a dealer to try and figure it out but they didn't have any friggin 4runners!


the 2012 taco has two very conveniently placed empty slots next to A-trac switch...one on the left and one on the right of the A-trac switch, couldnt be a better place for the heat switches. Im sure i can take aftermarket heat pads and wire them to the OEM 4runner switches, just wondering if anyone knows of they're the same size? from pictures they sure look like a dead ringer.


the Taco picture only shows the USB slot...the off-road tacos also have the A-trac switch next to the USB slot..leaving two empty slots, one on each side.

 

yes they fit.... but will they work?... ehh, maybe. i've been following a thread on an fj forum and it's a mind f*ck to get them to work. the switch has resistors, then you need to purchase the oem controllers, then make a custom wiring harness because the total resistance doesn't match the aftermarket heating elements. a lot of trial and error that has been going on for years. if i remember correctly, only one guy has made it work. there's an aftermarket ebay kit. includes elements and oem style switches that will fit those blanks.

that was exactly my sticking point (besides them actually fitting in the same slots), making the OEM switches (resistor type) work with a two position aftermarket element wiring. Im not that good with electricity but i know that this would be a serious challenge.

i haven't tried the kit on ebay personally, but they've gotten a ton of positive feedback and seem to have a good warranty. the company has a website as well.

 

Cool, they look legit and close 100% rating for 400 kits, that pretty damn good.

Seems like a much easier option that going through the oem trouble, would've been trick though.

I just have to PM them see if I can order the kit with just white labels instead of the party mode green and orange labels...Good lawrd

ok, got them and installed them, worked like a charm


$90 shipped from somewhere deep in China, took forever to get them, but they're well made and work great. THeyre back lit when you turn your headlights on, and theres a on/off light that goes on when operated. It has a 5 position click wheel

Im out of blank switch spots on my truck ...i hate blanks, means I'm not getting something others have on their trucks

 

The switches look great, not crazy about the lights but beats autozone toggle switches. Anyone know where I can get just switches? I have the heaters.

 

i know trying to wire toyota OEM ones, which you can buy at any dealer with the part number, is a gigantic pain in the ass not worth the effort.

the ones i got im sure you could contact the sellers on Ebay and get them to sell you just the switches

Were there wiring and connectors in the back or did you have to make one.

 

the heaters had al the wiring and connectors i needed, so i just tapped into the fuse panel for power and into the light wire from one of the adjacent switches for the back lighting when headlights are on...took me maybe 1hr to wire the whole thing.

 

if you use a step drill you can install a switch right into the blank plug... this is what i did with my katzkin heater switch.
