2011 TRD Won't Move in 4x4 Full Steering Lock?

Do you all have any trouble with your trucks if you are in 4x4 mode with your steering wheel at full lock to the right? Mine won't move at low speeds unless I give it a lot of gas. Even then, it sounds like the drivetrain is really struggling.

 

Sounds like its binding up. My 2011 requires more gas at FULL lock.Figure its normal.

 

Id reccomend not doing that..you will break something, either u joints or cv axles if you force it. If you need to make a tight turn, take it out of 4x4

 

I have a 2011 and it's definitely harder to get going when turned. It's just the tires are all trying to go the same speed but have different distances to travel. You probably notice it won't do that in the snow.

Turning full lock in 4 wheel is not healthy for the truck.

 

none of these guys have any idea what they are talking about. ive been a toyota master technician for 12 years, when you turn the truck to full lock you have to make sure you are on dry pavement and give it full throttle also. its works alot better when the locker is engaged and youre in 4-lo by the way. just put the pedal to the floor and it will do its thing, this trick unveils a noticable hp gain, and im pretty sure everyone on this site has done it as one of their first and easiest mods. im surprised you've never heard of it. do some searching.

It happens. Binding in the front. Try not to turn so sharp in 4wd.

If it's binding up, there is too much traction and you should not need to be in 4WD anyway. This sounds like an excellent way to destroy your transfer case. 4WD is only for use on low traction surfaces, as opposed to AWD in some vehicles that are designed to be in 4WD on dry pavement. There is a differential unit inside an AWD transfer case to allow for dry pavement. Tacomas don't have that.
