2012 Fabtech Tacoma Thule Rack 422XT Xsporter Done - Pictures

Aloha all,

After much searching around, talking on the forum, I decided to go with this system. I am very happy with the outcome.....















They didn't send my the locks and keys, however it should have come with the system i bought so they are sending it for free. I also had to cut the last link off of the towers so i could lower it a bit...

Question, how much over hang from the tail of the cross bar to where it connects on the up-right? I just installed these last week and I have 6" on either side. I did this to compensate for the fact when you attach them to the rail they tilt in on like a 20 degree angle. Now there nice and plumb with the truck but really hard to lower and take out.

 

mine is about 5 1/2 on each side.

 

Nice, looks good man! After all that talk on your other thread about the thule racks i decided to cut mine so i can set then one notch lower than the roof line and i like the looks a little better. My step ladder also doesnt howl as much on the highway now because its below the roof. My only issue now is ive gotten rid of all the chrome on the truck, mag grey like yours. Im about to buy black wheels and i feel like the thule racks will look out of place being the only shiny thing on my truck. Maybe ill go with black and chrome wheels or look into powdercoating the racks.
Rhode island- im at 5 3/4, mine dont slide very easily either but i can live with it, maybe try some wd-40?

 

wow that thing is seriously heavy duty!

im not hauling a lot of weight, but i load my windsurf boards on this rack ive built over the bed. its nice when everything's at chest level, esp when its windy... and its also out of the wind when on the highway...

i usually keep the rack off if im not transporting my boards, it pops right off and stows in the bed or the garage in about 2 seconds.

my boards are between 7 and 12 feet long.
