2nd Gen 2x4 Possible front & rear 4" spindle lift options

So after a few months of researching on how to lift my 08 v6 2x4 stock Taco
I've come to the conclusion that 4" spindles will be my best option for the front... (by the way if you have a link with a lower price please advise an i can edit for fellow TW members )

I looked into Camburg 4" , Maxtrac 4", or Total chaos 3.5'' links below
(by the way you will more than likely need extended brake lines)

I decided since i wont be trailing to hard & am lifting more for the aesthetic reasons (girls), Maxtrac is the way to go. Also because i am a broke college student 511.00 for a 4" lift in the front isnt bad at all...

now that leaves me with the rear i need to level out to compensate for the front 4 inches...
I explored 3 different routs i could go..add a leaf, blocks, brand new leaf pack. i decided to go with the last last option which is the best in my opinion, It is to drop a dime on a brand new pair of all pro leaf packs..
(again you will need extended break lines)

Add-a-leaf: would be a cheap way to go but since i tow they will bend over time & give me even more of a "bro/cholo lean" (isnt what i need or want!)

Blocks: is a cheap way to go but have heard through out the forms that if yo trail/rockclimb the blocks can damage your axle? not something im willing to risk even if am "mall climbing/trolling" & personally i don't like the look of blocks.

So now that front & rear options are decided for this set up leaves me at
4" in the front & 3" in the rear... + 1' factory rake? putting me at a even lift.. i think?
To be sure you can mesure the height from the center of hub to lip of factory fender. that gives you your height difference in front & rear

Also note that i will be adding some new billstines all around when i have the cash for it. but not now (special pricing only for TW members)

For all spindle lifts they will require max 4.5 wheel back spacing
& if your planning on using stock wheels you are definitely gonna need wheel spacers since they are set at 5.5 back spacing,
spidertraxs are preferred due to them being hub centric wheel spacers. i believe you will need 1 1/4" spacers to be able to clear stock wheel with any type of spindle lift?

 

I'm curious as well I might do the Maxtrac spindles but not sure what I'll need to level it in the rear. I am on the TSB leafs, not sure if the AAL and 1" block will level it or what lol. I know I'll need the extended rear brake lines as well.

 

I found out that stock theres a 1" rake on the rear so 3" leaf & 1" rake = 4
not to sure but thats what im guessing

 

Measure center of hub to bottom of stock fender. Then add 4 inches to the front and if you are unloaded in the rear add about 5 inches... lol

And if you think the Maxtrac spinfles can't take the hard off roading or hits look at the last page or 2 of my build thread...

 

You should be pretty level with this package you mention. I have the camburg
Spindles and deavers with 1.5" of lift and I have a bit of bro lean!

 

Your package will sit level compared to mine. No pun inteded!

 

i hope so im just trying to get everything cleared out, by chance did you use the stock shocks & coil-overs for a while & then upgrade all around or swapped everything out the at the same time? i know my shocks/co still have enough life in them to allow me to save up for some billys but as it is i only have enough $$$ for spindles currently

im not sure but i believe i read you can use the stock front c/o for some time with 4" spindles but if the rear does get lifted you need extended rear shocks?

 

yea i can slight;y tell theres a little lean on your rig. not to much but i know my anal retentive ness will always be annoyed that my ride dosent sit level

Sorry to hi jack....With the 4" spindle lift, it will not require new upper control arms because it doesn't change the suspension geometry. Correct?

 

Yes. U will be fine with the stock front coils. Rears if lifted more than a couple inches need new shocks.

Yes. It moves the hub down and nothing else changes.

Polyperformance has the AP springs cheaper (at least when I bought mine)

 

yupp what nfs said. but if you do trail hard and later upgrade your coilover and decide to preset them at 2.5 inch of lift it would be good mesure to upgrade those upper arms.

 

i checked withy polyperformance & there quite pricy right now. im assuming you went with new packs @ 1.5 inch ($ 750.00) of lift & then added either some blocks or a add-a-leaf to achieve the full 3 inches?

they also have the full 3" that im searching for but at ($ 850.00)

 

I had the 5100's on the rear that were for 3 inches of lift and now I have fox remote resi shocks 10" travel. DownSouth Motorsports is your best bet.

 

Ooo lala those fox sound pretty good to me but not enough cash for them or purpose. theres not to many trails around me just a few mud pits. & really i'll have to check them out and & add that to my main post (keeping tw members going through the same thing informed & showing them the cheapest route to go )

 

would those rear billies for 3" lift bottom out/ over extend on you since the lift is 4"?

 

I never had any issues but I am NOT saying there might be....

 

hmm interesting.. have you ever got all 4 wheels off the ground going over a jump or anything like that
